Jack Whitehall<\/strong> is coming for Gordon Ramsay<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s reign at Fox \u2014 and he has high hopes that his Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em> hosting gig will lead to more opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took some satisfaction in winding up my friend Gordon Ramsay that finally Fox had commissioned a show that he wasn\u2019t part of and that I was coming for his crown as the face of Fox,\u201d Whitehall, 38, joked during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cAnd you can probably guess what he said to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whitehall was excited for the opportunity to host his own show.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI have to wear a lot of hats on this show. I\u2019m the quiz master but then I\u2019m also at times more like the school counselor where I am trying to give them a shoulder to cry on,\u201d he noted. \u201cOr a supportive hug when they need it the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSure, everyone likes to get outside in the summer. But the great outdoors won\u2019t seem so great once you realize what\u2019s waiting for you on the small screen this season. For starters, you\u2019ll get answers to some big cliffhangers, like: What exactly did that restaurant review say on Hulu\u2019s fan favorite The Bear \u2014 and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued: \u201cThen at other times, I\u2019m more like the torturer. I am really putting them through the ringer. I had to be quite valuable to try to be supportive at times. I picked my moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em> is described<\/a> as \u201ca proven format across multiple international territories, channels celebrities\u2019 inner school spirit as they head back to summer school, facing a mix of brain-teasing tasks, fast-paced physical challenges, and long-buried classroom knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the description, each week \u201cthe \u2018smartest\u2019 celebrity graduates, narrowing the field until a high-stakes final exam determines who will be left standing with the distinction no one wants \u2014 the title of The Nation\u2019s Dumbest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I would be quite deep into [the show if I was a contestant]. I don\u2019t have great general knowledge,\u201d Whitehall told Us. \u201cAnd I have some glaring blind spots \u2014 particularly in American pop culture and sport. I could come undone on a show like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whitehall joked he is \u201cquite a delicate flower,\u201d adding, \u201cI don\u2019t think I would have the resilience to put myself on the show. \u2026 I was not particularly academic [in school]. I was more into the arts and drama \u2014 more of a like theater kid. I wasn\u2019t great academically but I think people just make assumptions about me because I have this voice and I sound quite intelligent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian used it to his advantage<\/a> on Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the show, I\u2019m able to look quite smug and above it all,\u201d he shared. \u201cBut I think it\u2019s just because I have the fancy British accent and then all of the answers written on a clipboard in front of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whitehall also learned some important lessons for the future. \u201cSometimes you just have to just check yourself and be like, \u2018Don\u2019t be too much of a dick,’\u201d he said. \u201cBecause it is very hard. It\u2019s very easy to stand there and be smug and aloof when you\u2019ve got all the answers written down. I kept having to remind myself that if the boot had been on the other foot, I would have been flailing around and getting questions wrong. I tried to make sure that I was compassionate as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, Whitehall didn\u2019t have to participate<\/a> in answering questions alongside the all-star class that includes TV personality Hilaria Baldwin<\/strong>, actress Carmen Electra<\/strong>, actor Anthony Michael Hall<\/strong>, actor Jon Heder<\/strong>, musician Chase Hudson<\/strong> and rapper Ice-T<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
