Amman, July 15 (Petra) — His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein
\nbin Abdullah II, the Regent, attended on Wednesday the opening of the
\nThird Honorary Professors Forum at the University of Jordan (UJ),
\naccording to a royal court statement.<\/p>\n
The forum, held under the theme “Universities Driving National
\nInnovation Ecosystems”, brings together emeritus professors,
\nuniversity vice-chancellors, and academics from 17 countries around
\nthe world, and aims to establish a scientific platform for the
\nexchange of expertise and ideas across various fields, disciplines,
\ncountries, and cultures, thereby enhancing opportunities for
\nscientific research collaboration and training programmes.<\/p>\n
In his remarks at the forum, UJ President Nathir Obeidat said the
\nuniversity is adapting to scientific and technological advances by
\nestablishing tailored, high-quality programmes designed to cultivate
\nthe next generation of future-ready leaders, adding that UJ is also
\nworking on establishing a technical college.<\/p>\n
The Crown Prince attended the forum\u2019s opening session, which featured
\na lecture by internationally acclaimed artificial intelligence expert
\nOmar Hatamleh on the rapid AI-driven shifts in the labour market.<\/p>\n
The two-day forum is focusing on bridging the gap between academia
\nand the economy in Jordan, with panels highlighting entrepreneurship,
\nuniversity spin-offs and strategies for commercialising research into
\nthriving ventures, university-industry collaboration,
\ntechnology-integrated education, academic transformation, and health
\nbiotechnology.<\/p>\n
His Royal Highness also inaugurated UJ\u2019s Science Venture Foundry
\n(SVF), a university-led platform that aims to convert science-based
\nresearch and promising technologies into investment-ready,
\nhigh-growth start-ups, and was briefed on several joint research and
\ndevelopment initiatives linking the university with the private
\nsector.<\/p>\n
During a tour of the SVF, His Royal Highness was briefed by UJ Vice
\nPresident for Scientific Faculties Ashraf Abu Karaky on the foundry\u2019s
\nfacilities and programmes, which focus on research, development,
\ninnovation, entrepreneurship, and private-sector collaboration, with
\nthe aim of advancing the development of products that bolster the
\nNational Council for Future Technology\u2019s programmes as well as
\nnational economic modernisation plans.<\/p>\n
