The biggest names in Latin music are coming together in Miami for what organizers hope will become one of the largest humanitarian concerts ever staged for Venezuela<\/a>, reviving a tradition of star-powered benefit events that stretches from Live Aid<\/strong> to Venezuela Aid Live<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for Aug. 16 at Kaseya Center<\/strong>, Unidos por Venezuela<\/strong> will combine a live concert with a nationally televised telethon to raise money for survivors of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela in June, leaving thousands dead, injured and displaced while destroying entire communities.<\/p>\n

The Miami telethon is one of several high-profile cultural initiatives launched in response to the earthquakes.<\/p>\n

Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel<\/strong>, one of the country’s most celebrated artists, recently transformed what was supposed to be his farewell concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl into “A Concert for Venezuela,”<\/strong> a benefit performance on Aug. 23 dedicated to earthquake relief. Dudamel and the orchestra are donating their services, with all proceeds supporting his Earthquake Recovery to Support Venezuelan Communities fund, created in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). The concert underscores how artists across genres, from classical music to Latin pop, have mobilized to support recovery efforts in Venezuela.<\/p>\n

In Miami, the poster shows the starpower of the event and the solidarity of the latin pop music stars.<\/p>\n

Global stars Marc Anthony<\/strong>, Ricardo Montaner<\/strong> and Feid<\/strong> will headline the event alongside Jay Wheeler<\/strong>, Olga Ta\u00f1\u00f3n<\/strong>, Gente de Zona<\/strong>, Mau y Ricky<\/strong>, Lasso<\/strong>, Elena Rose<\/strong>, Silvestre Dangond<\/strong>, Piso 21<\/strong>, SanLuis<\/strong>, Zhamira Zambrano<\/strong>, Alleh<\/strong> and Free Cover<\/strong>, with organizers promising that more artists will be added in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The benefit concert is being organized by Maestro Cares Foundation<\/strong>, TelevisaUnivision<\/strong>, CMN<\/strong>, and Pimiento<\/strong>, bringing together some of the biggest forces in Latin entertainment for a single humanitarian cause. The event will be broadcast simultaneously as a telethon, allowing viewers across the United States and Latin America to donate in real time while performances take place inside Miami’s Kaseya Center.<\/p>\n

The ticket sales will start on Friday July 17.<\/a><\/p>\n

For many Venezuelans, the event inevitably recalls Venezuela Aid Live<\/strong>, the historic 2019 concert held on the Colombian border. Organized by British entrepreneur Richard Branson, that free concert attracted more than 30 international artists, including Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Luis Fonsi, Carlos Vives, Man\u00e1, Miguel Bos\u00e9, Maluma and Ricardo Montaner, with the goal of drawing international attention to Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis and raising $100 million in aid.<\/p>\n

But while the two concerts share the same spirit of solidarity, their missions are different.<\/p>\n

Venezuela Aid Live<\/strong> was rooted in the country’s political and humanitarian crisis and sought to pressure Nicol\u00e1s Maduro’s government to allow humanitarian aid into Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Unidos por Venezuela<\/strong>, by contrast, is focused on helping communities recover from one of the deadliest natural disasters in the country’s modern history. Rather than advocating for political change, organizers say the campaign is centered on emergency relief, reconstruction and direct humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n

The concert also draws comparisons to the world’s most famous charity performances.<\/p>\n
