Dudamel and the orchestra are donating their services, with all proceeds supporting his Earthquake Recovery to Support Venezuelan Communities fund, created in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). The concert underscores how artists across genres, from classical music to Latin pop, have mobilized to support recovery efforts in Venezuela.

In Miami, the poster shows the starpower of the event and the solidarity of the latin pop music stars.

Global stars Marc Anthony, Ricardo Montaner and Feid will headline the event alongside Jay Wheeler, Olga Tañón, Gente de Zona, Mau y Ricky, Lasso, Elena Rose, Silvestre Dangond, Piso 21, SanLuis, Zhamira Zambrano, Alleh and Free Cover, with organizers promising that more artists will be added in the coming weeks.

The benefit concert is being organized by Maestro Cares Foundation, TelevisaUnivision, CMN, and Pimiento, bringing together some of the biggest forces in Latin entertainment for a single humanitarian cause. The event will be broadcast simultaneously as a telethon, allowing viewers across the United States and Latin America to donate in real time while performances take place inside Miami’s Kaseya Center.

The ticket sales will start on Friday July 17.

For many Venezuelans, the event inevitably recalls Venezuela Aid Live, the historic 2019 concert held on the Colombian border. Organized by British entrepreneur Richard Branson, that free concert attracted more than 30 international artists, including Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Luis Fonsi, Carlos Vives, Maná, Miguel Bosé, Maluma and Ricardo Montaner, with the goal of drawing international attention to Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis and raising $100 million in aid.

But while the two concerts share the same spirit of solidarity, their missions are different.

Venezuela Aid Live was rooted in the country’s political and humanitarian crisis and sought to pressure Nicolás Maduro’s government to allow humanitarian aid into Venezuela.

Unidos por Venezuela, by contrast, is focused on helping communities recover from one of the deadliest natural disasters in the country’s modern history. Rather than advocating for political change, organizers say the campaign is centered on emergency relief, reconstruction and direct humanitarian assistance.

The concert also draws comparisons to the world’s most famous charity performances.

In 1971, George Harrison and Ravi Shankar created The Concert for Bangladesh, widely regarded as the first modern benefit concert. Fourteen years later, Live Aid united Queen, U2, David Bowie, Madonna, Led Zeppelin and dozens of other artists to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia, fundamentally changing the way the music industry responded to humanitarian disasters.

Latin music has since created its own tradition of benefit spectacles.

Following Hurricane Maria, One Voice: Somos Live!, spearheaded by Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, united Univision, Telemundo and NBC in an unprecedented joint broadcast featuring Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee, Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Alejandro Sanz and Jennifer Lopez to support disaster relief across Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Now, Unidos por Venezuela seeks to write the next chapter in that history.

The concert builds on Univision Contigo: Unidos por Venezuela, a nationwide donation drive that has traveled through Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta and Miami collecting food, medicine, hygiene products and emergency supplies. Organizers say the campaign has already coordinated more than 50 truckloads of humanitarian aid destined for affected communities in Venezuela.

Miami was a natural choice to host the event.

Home to one of the world’s largest Venezuelan communities outside Venezuela, South Florida has become the center of relief efforts since the earthquakes, with churches, nonprofits, businesses and volunteers organizing donation drives almost immediately after the disaster.

For artists like Ricardo Montaner, who built his career in Venezuela, and Venezuelan performers including Lasso, SanLuis, Elena Rose, Mau y Ricky and Zhamira Zambrano, the concert is also deeply personal.

With additional performers still expected to join the lineup, organizers are hoping the event becomes more than a night of music. They hope it serves as a reminder that, decades after Live Aid transformed the role artists can play during humanitarian crises, Latin music remains one of the region’s most powerful forces for mobilizing global solidarity.

© 2025 Latin Times.
