Beck<\/a> has announced Ride Lonesome<\/em>, his first new album in seven years. The 12-song collection is due out on September 18th through Capitol Records. Along with sharing details of the LP, he\u2019s also revealed a new single called \u201cIn the Night.\u201d<\/p>\n For the new album, Beck recorded with Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner, a group who previously accompanied him on albums including Sea Change<\/em>, Morning Phase<\/em>, and Mutations<\/em>. Nigel Godrich, who also worked on Sea Change<\/em> and Mutations<\/em>, mixed all of the songs.<\/p>\n Get Beck Tickets Here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt had been a decade since we went in the studio and recorded Morning Phase<\/em>. This time it felt like the playing and the chemistry had evolved and deepened\u2014 a sound that\u2019s come together over the decades of working together,\u201d Beck said in a statement. \u201cWhile we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way.\u201d Fans can pre-order the album here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n With \u201cIn the Night,\u201d the song\u2019s softness, made from nylon-string finger picking for melody and rhythm with upright bass, belies a deceptively lush orchestral arrangement, melding simplicity with deep musicality. The song forgoes traditional structuring, and instead builds up the arrangement before reverting to a lonely guitar. The song was produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich. A video was also released starring French actor Denis Lavant and directed by previous Beck collaborator Mikai Karl.<\/p>\n Beck previously released the lead single<\/a> \u201cRide Lonesome\u201d in April and followed it up with a duet version<\/a> featuring Sierra Ferrell in June.<\/p>\n In support of the album, Beck will embark on a North American tour<\/a> in September.<\/p>\n Beck put out an album of rarities and covers, Everybody\u2019s Gotta Learn Sometime<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>in February.<\/p>\n
