Elle King<\/strong><\/a> is on her self-love journey after dealing with some debilitating nerves ahead of filming Fox\u2019s newest game show, Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was super nervous,\u201d she exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while discussing joining the competition that tests celebrities\u2019 smarts. \u201cIt\u2019s taken me a lot of work, but I like who I am, and I like the person I\u2019m becoming. I\u2019m a kind person. My heart is good. I\u2019m smarter than I thought I was, and I\u2019m a good mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

King, 37, who is a mother to two children \u2014 sons Lucky, 4, and Royal, 1 \u2014 said she led with those qualities when coming into Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was dealing with some crippling anxiety. But you have to just remind yourself: everybody else is probably nervous too, no matter how much they\u2019re putting on a front,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The Ex\u2019s & Oh\u2019s<\/em> singer found a confidant on set, too. Besides King, the debut season of Nation\u2019s Dumbest<\/em> features TV personality Hilaria Baldwin<\/strong>, actress Carmen Electra<\/strong>, former NFL quarterback Matt Leinart<\/strong>, musician Chase Hudson<\/strong> and rapper Ice-T<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

TV personality and physician Dr. Drew Pinsky<\/strong>, Jackass<\/em> star Steve-O<\/strong> and singer JoJo Siwa<\/strong><\/a> are also part of the group, while actor Anthony Michael Hall<\/strong>, actor Jon Heder<\/strong> and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang<\/strong><\/a> round out the cast.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce I met Chase, I was like, \u2018Okay, he\u2019s quieter than me, so I\u2019m good, and he\u2019s beautiful, so I\u2019m just gonna stare at him.\u2019 He was talking smack under his breath. I was like, this is school,\u201d King joked. \u201cI\u2019ve got to be 20 years older than this kid, but that\u2019s my boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

King also shared with Us<\/em> that she\u2019s been underestimated most of her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess everything has sort of been a little bit against me. No one has taken me as serious, and I wouldn\u2019t change a thing. It\u2019s made me sometimes have to work twice as hard,\u201d the Grammy-nominated singer revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to carve my own path. And sometimes it\u2019s hard enough without any of that other stuff. And I\u2019m just grateful that I\u2019ve had any opportunities that I\u2019ve had, even the bad ones, because even those opportunities, every experience is an opportunity for growth,\u201d King continued, noting, \u201cI\u2019ve learned my lessons, so I\u2019m smooth sailing so far right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

King previously opened up to Us<\/em> about being diagnosed with autism<\/a> after her time on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love games. I love game shows. I\u2019m extremely competitive, and I love puzzles and everything. I actually found out right after the show that I\u2019m autistic, and so I was like, \u2018Everything makes so much sense now.\u2019 But I didn\u2019t even know,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n
