\u014chinehou Lyttelton singer-songwriter Delaney Davidson knows a thing or two about live music<\/p>\n
Currently in the midst of a national tour accompanied by his band \u2014 Heather Webb, Cass Basil, Alex Freer, and Ryan Fisherman \u2014 he discussed the current frailty<\/a> of Aotearoa New Zealand\u2019s live music scene in a new interview with Rolling Stone AU\/NZ<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s nerve-wracking, especially these days\u2026 people wait to the last moment to buy tickets,\u201d he told us.<\/p>\n \u201cIt seems like it\u2019s separating out, that there\u2019s even more support governmentally for big acts to come and play, and people will just want to go to that. Where\u2019s that support for small venues, for small acts?\u201d<\/p>\n Davidson continued:\u00a0\u201cI think it\u2019s a conscious time \u2013 time to be conscious of where we put our thoughts and where we put our support and where we put our vote.\u201d<\/p>\n But hard-working artists like Davidson keep hitting the road because it\u2019s what they love.\u00a0\u201cPerforming live, going on the road, it\u2019s great,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n One thing fans can expect on his current tour is the return of\u00a0the \u2018Lucky Dip\u2019: ticket holders can choose what they want to pay and receive a surprise handpicked by Davidson himself. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIs it going to be a candy bar and some false teeth, or will it be a beautiful porcelain figure?\u201d he joked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Davidson is touring in support of new album Baby Heavyweight<\/em>, his 11th solo album.<\/p>\n\n
