Every summer, hundreds of artists descend onto downtown Appleton for the annual Mile of Music<\/a> festival, a free, outdoor music festival.<\/p>\n From July 30 to Aug. 2 this year, the festival will be the hub of more than 200 artists and over 700 musical performances.<\/p>\n With the festival spanning several days and featuring so many artists, it is almost impossible to highlight every single one.<\/p>\n The Appleton Post-Crescent reached out to the festival’s organizers for a list of Mile of Music artists that are new, returning, from Wisconsin and international.<\/p>\n While there’s a full list of this year’s lineup on the Mile of Music website, the following is a short preview of artists from each category.<\/p>\n Morgan St. Jean<\/a> is a Grammy nominated pop artists from Los Angeles. Her latest hit comes from her song Casual, co-written with Chappel Roan. Catch St. Jean’s performances at:<\/p>\n Ron Artis II<\/a> comes from Hawaii and is known for his multi-genre music. The award-winning performer\u2019s music spans indie-rock, soul and acoustic. He has performed on stage with artists like Jack Johnson, Joan Baez and Ben Harper. He will perform:<\/p>\n Rags and Riches<\/a> is an alt-pop duo made up of brothers Tanner and Peyton Whitt. The two come from Lexington, Kentucky and currently have over 1.5 million streams and 525,000 video views after releasing their debut single Speed of Sound in 2019. The brothers will perform:<\/p>\n Strawberry Launc<\/a>h<\/a> comes from New York and is made up of five members. With Riiza singing, Matrianna Gahol as the guitarist, Taylor Hurt on keys, Abby Flicker on bass and Benjy Berkowitz playing drums, the band has made its way from small nightclubs to SXSW to Governors Ball. Strawberry Launch will perform:<\/p>\n Wht.rbbt.obj<\/a>, a Chicago-based alt-rock band, is headed by married couple Frank and River Rabbitte, with two additional members. The band’s music is described as soulful vocals, fuzzed out guitars and cinematic textures. After performing mostly in bars and local events, the band found itself at Mile of Music. Catch their performance at:<\/p>\n Married Louisville couple Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jackson formed Flagship Romance<\/a> together, performing original alternative folk music. The group has released four critically acclaimed albums, all fully funded by its fanbase. Currently, the group has been releasing singles produced by Grammy award winning producer Lee Miles. Catch Flagship Romance’s performances at:<\/p>\n If you’re an avid Mile of Music goer, chances are you’ve seen Post Sex Nachos<\/a>. Hailing from Tennessee, the four-piece band is known for its indie rock music. The band has supported acts like Stolen Gin, Allen Stone and Ripe. Their next full-length album is expected to drop this year. Post Sex Nachos will perform:<\/p>\n Sweet Lizzy Project<\/a>, a Cuban born and Nashville-based quartet has quickly grown its fanbase, leading them to open for artists like Heart and Joan Jett. The pop rock band has performed on NPR’s “Weekend Edition” and PBS’s Havana Time Machine. See Sweet Lizzy Project perform:<\/p>\n Will Hoge<\/a> has been recognized as a leader in the Americana genre as he helped to popularize it years before it received its own category at the Grammys. The Nashville artist has several number one hits and major-label record deals. Catch Hoge’s performances at:<\/p>\n Nashville artist Claire Kelly<\/a> has earned several accolades for herself in the last eight years. She has had several television appearances, major songwriting contest awards and international tours with her Americana music. She is currently working on her next project with Grammy award winning producer, Brandon Bell. Catch Kelly’s performances at:<\/p>\n The multi-award-winning heavy metal band, Trash Pandas<\/a>, hails from Green Bay. Formed in 2019, the group takes inspiration from several subgenres of rock like punk, alt, grunge and metal making them a versatile performance to see. Catch Trash Pandas at:<\/p>\n Cool Waters Band<\/a> was formed right in Appleton in 1993. The high-energy band is known for several types of music including timeless rock, catchy pop and nostalgic vintage. The Cool Waters Band will perform:<\/p>\n From Madison, Kat and the Hurricane<\/a> have crafted a unique sound of rock and indie pop. Their hit single “Caffeine & Alcohol” has amassed more than 300,000 streams and the band has received five Madison Area Music Association Awards. Their sound takes inspiration from bands like The Killers, Walk the Moon and Jimmy Eat World. Watch Kat and the Hurricane perform at:<\/p>\n The American folk duo, Olive You<\/a>, hails from Appleton and their sound has been described as “warm harmonies and light-night honesty.” The duo writes songs inspired by commitment, honesty and a deep belief in love. Watch Olive You perform at:<\/p>\n Although from Australia, Minor Gold<\/a>‘s Americana genre has earned them a number one single on the European Americana Radio Chart and recognition from major music companies like Rhythms Magazine, Shindig and RNR. Catch Minor Gold’s performances at:<\/p>\n Coming from Winchester, United Kingdom, Ruth Theodore<\/a> started her career performing streetside for tips. She has since then signed to a major American record label and worked with Tony and Grammy award-winning producer Todd Sickafoose.
