We\u2019re not going to let a little rain in the forecast ruin our weekend. From parties to races, The Anchorage Weekender rounded up eight ways to make the most of it.<\/p>\n

1. Crafted in Alaska: Summer Edition<\/b><\/h3>\n

Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Anchorage Museum lawn (625 C St.)<\/b>Browse the work of printmakers, woodworkers, jewelers and other artists at the Anchorage Museum for the summer edition of their Crafted in Alaska market<\/u><\/a>. You can find high-quality pieces from all over the state that reflect the materials and stories of the North. Meet the makers or just enjoy some time outside on the museum\u2019s lawn at this free event.<\/p>\n

2. Rock the Hill<\/b><\/h3>\n

Friday, 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday, 1 to 10 p.m., Hilltop Ski Area (7015 Abbott Rd.)<\/b>
Don\u2019t worry if you\u2019re over the hill or live under a rock, because Rock the Hill<\/u><\/a> is a festival that celebrates what makes Anchorage unique. The event promises two jam-packed days of homegrown music, art and food. Bring your bikes and yoga mats for some summer slope fun (hopefully in the sun). The lineup includes SunDog, Whitty Youngman, Bethlehem Shalom and more.<\/p>\n

Kids under 12 get in for free but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a ticket, which are just over $40 for Friday and $60 for Saturday. There\u2019s also a discounted two-day ticket package, and tickets include a coupon toward a discounted lift pass to the bike park. Overflow parking and a shuttle will be available at Service High School.<\/p>\n

3. Halloween in July: \u201cGhouls Gone Wild\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n

Friday and Saturday, Chilkoot Charlie\u2019s (2435 Spenard Rd.)<\/b>
Wish you could celebrate Halloween all year long? If Halloween in July<\/u><\/a> can satisfy your insatiable thirst to party, you can let loose at Koot\u2019s for two days this weekend with costume contests, music and dancing. Soak up the Halloween vibe and rock out with bands The Robotz, Dreamcat, Natural High and Epic! Hit the dance floor with DJs Akira, Juba, Dev and Militant.<\/p>\n

4. Bike the Moose<\/b><\/h3>\n

Saturday, 10 a.m., Westchester Lagoon<\/b>
Common sense tells us that when we\u2019re on a bicycle and encounter a moose, we shouldn\u2019t attempt to ride over it. Luckily, for two-wheel enthusiasts, Anchorage has a moose perfectly suited to bike upon. This weekend you can join Bike Anchorage for a fundraising tour of the Moose Loop bike route<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Riders can pick a 32-mile single loop, double it up with a 64-mile loop or take on the century challenge with three loops adding up to 96 miles. Registration is $45 and supports Bike Anchorage\u2019s efforts to advocate for safer streets and building a more bike-friendly Anchorage.<\/p>\n

5. Fairview Block Party<\/b><\/h3>\n

Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 12th Avenue and Nelchina Street\/Fairview Elementary<\/b>
Join the Fairview Community Council to party and celebrate the neighborhood. The 2026 Fairview Block Party<\/u><\/a> will have food vendors, games, local music and more.<\/p>\n

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

6. Summer Discovery: PeopleMover Bus Storytime at Muldoon Library<\/b><\/h3>\n

Saturday, 11:30 and 12:30, Muldoon Library (1251 Muldoon Rd.)<\/b>
Do your little ones love storytime? How about a fun trip on public transit? The Muldoon Library is teaming up with PeopleMover for a different take on storytime \u2013 doing it on a bus. There will be two short trips picking up from the library, with bubbles and sidewalk chalk for before and after. The event is suggested for kids 5 and under with a guardian, but anyone is welcome.<\/p>\n

7. Skinny Raven Half Marathon and 10k<\/b><\/h3>\n

Sunday, 8 a.m., Anchorage Park Strip<\/b>
Go for a personal best, enjoy the walk or cheer on runners at Skinny Raven\u2019s 2026 Half Marathon and 10k<\/u><\/a>. The race starts at the Rose Garden on the Park Strip and winds through Anchorage\u2019s one-of-a-kind urban trail system. Wrapping up back at the Rose Garden, racers can treat themselves to Double Shovel Cider, lunch and a massage. And of course, there will be race swag for all of the finishers.<\/p>\n

There will be an early half marathon start at 8 a.m. for slower racers who could take up to three hours and another at 9 a.m. for the rest. The 10k wave will start at 9:20 a.m.<\/p>\n

8. Mud Factor<\/b><\/h3>\n

Sunday, 10:30 to 12 p.m., Kincaid Park<\/b>
Do you find yourself way too clean after a run? Do you wish you could cross the finish line unrecognizable and covered in mud? Well, Mud Factor<\/u><\/a> might be what you\u2019re looking for. It\u2019s a 5k mud and obstacle run with no losers, because everyone is a winner. The whole family can enjoy the giant cargo climbs, mud pits and waterslides. Registration is $45 for adults and $39 for kids and family waves. Prices increase to $75 for adults and $65 for kids and family waves on the day of the event.<\/p>\n
