New details regarding director Sam Raimi<\/b><\/a>\u2019s divorce from wife Gillian Greene <\/b>have been revealed two years after her petition was first filed.<\/p>\n

Greene, 58, filed for divorce from Raimi, 66, in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences, without specifying the date of separation. She also requested spousal support and for the filmmaker to pay her attorneys\u2019 fees, further asking the court to terminate Raimi\u2019s ability to be awarded alimony himself.<\/p>\n

Nearly two years later, the Spider-Man <\/i>director responded to Greene\u2019s petition<\/a> in court documents exclusively obtained by Us Weekly<\/i>. He claimed that the duo, who wed in September 1993, had separated in April 2016, nearly eight years before Greene\u2019s filing.<\/p>\n

In his Wednesday, July 15, motion, Raimi asked the court for a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. In contrast to Greene\u2019s alimony request, Raimi asked that both parties be unable to receive spousal support.<\/p>\n

Raimi further claimed that the \u201cfull nature and extent\u201d of the pair\u2019s separate and community property are unknown at this time.<\/p>\n

Raimi is a famed film director, who has helmed the likes of The Happy Valley Kid, Crime Wave, For the Love of the Game, The Gift, Darkman, Army of Darkness, Oz the Great and Powerful <\/i>and the Tobey Maguire<\/b>-led Spider-Man<\/i> franchise<\/a>. Raimi later directed Marvel\u2019s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnes<\/i>s in 2022, sparking rumors that he would also direct 2026\u2019s Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I haven\u2019t heard about that yet. I did read that, but I\u2019m not actually working on it yet,\u201d Raimi told Comic Book Resources<\/span><\/a> in 2024 when asked about the speculation. \u201cI mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current <\/i>Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don\u2019t know that they\u2019re going to go back to me, and say, \u2018Well, folks, we can also tell that story!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
