Theatre lovers can catch Aristophanes and Euripides in open-air venues in Limassol and Nicosia, while summer festivals bring music, satire and new Cypriot drama to stages from Sotira to Lympia. Exhibitions continue in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos, and two open-air cinemas keep the classics and new releases running through the summer heat.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THEATRE<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Limassol, Ancient Theatre of Kourion, 9pm (doors 8pm).<\/strong> The 29th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama continues with Aristophanes\u2019s Lysistrata. The National Theatre of Northern Greece (KThBE) presents the Aristophanic comedy, directed by artistic director Asterios Peltekis, highlighting the decay and disorder of a society alongside the timeless need for peace. Cast includes Elisavet Konstantinidou, Katerina Papoutsaki, Krateros Katsoulis, Alexandra Paleologou, Panagiotis Petrakis and Nikos Georgakis, among others. With surtitles. Running time: 120 minutes. Buses will be available for audiences travelling from Nicosia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nicosia, School for the Blind Amphitheatre, 9pm.<\/strong> The Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) presents its summer production of ancient drama again tonight, staging Euripides\u2019s Ion, directed by Thomas Moschopoulos. Upcoming dates: 18 July in Nicosia, 22 July at the Pattichio Municipal Amphitheatre in Larnaca, and 24 July at the Ancient Theatre of Kourion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nicosia, Nicosia Municipal Theatre Studio, 8.30pm.<\/strong> A brand-new play by Lena Kitsopoulou, written specifically for Theatro Dentro, is being staged at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre Studio. \u201cThe Harmful Effects of Tobacco\u201d, directed by Costas Silvestrou, draws its starting point from the one-act play of the same name by Anton Chekhov. Running time: 120 minutes (with interval).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nicosia, Satirical Theatre \u2013 Main Stage, 8.30pm.<\/strong> The 1st Satirical Theatre Festival 2026 concludes tonight with the performance \u201cDiary in Progress\u201d, based on Lena Kitsopoulou\u2019s play \u201cFrankenstein\u2019s Diary\u201d, adapted and directed by Eleni Anastasiou. Set within the rooms of a house, five women wander as different manifestations of the same being. Cast: Konstantina Giannopoulou, Dioni Geist, Maria Diplarou, Marianna Savva and Elena Sotiriou.
