Jenny McCarthy<\/a> is revealing that after her divorce, she had one bold idea for finding love \u2014 appearing on The Bachelorette<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the Wednesday, July 15, episode of the iHeartRadio \u201cBachelor Happy Hour\u201d podcast<\/a>, the Dirty Love<\/em> actress looked back on what she did following her 2005 split from director John Asher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just started The Bachelorette<\/em>. I don\u2019t know how many years they were into it and I was newly divorced,\u201d the 53-year-old star, who is now married<\/a> to Donnie Wahlberg<\/a>, recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called my agent and I said, \u2018I want you to call them and I want you to pitch me as the Bachelorette. I want you to tell them that Jenny McCarthy from MTV\u2019s Singled Out<\/em><\/a>, the No. 1 dating show of all time, is single and now wants to be on the show,\u2019\u201d she fiercely added. \u201cI had no fear, but I was also genuinely looking for love. I was like, \u2018I would make the greatest Bachelorette<\/a> of all time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

‘We Don\u2019t Want Famous People’<\/h2>\n

Despite her enthusiasm, the opportunity never materialized.<\/p>\n

She recalled, \u201cAnd the show said, \u2018We don\u2019t want famous people on the show.\u2019 It would have been the most ultimate Bachelor Nation season of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although she never got the chance to hand out roses, McCarthy still believes she would have made for unforgettable television.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would\u2019ve had so much fun with those boys. I would have made out with all of them. I would have just been, like, so awesome on that show,\u201d she gushed.<\/p>\n

Even without appearing on the ABC series, McCarthy said she’s remained one of the franchise’s biggest fans over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an OG Bachelor Nation<\/a> girl, so the reason why I love it \u2026 is there\u2019s a hopefulness, there\u2019s an awkwardness even though it\u2019s on TV and things are polished, you can\u2019t escape the awkwardness of the first meetings [and] the first dates,\u201d McCarthy stated. \u201cIt\u2019s really cool to watch, of course, egos come alive, competitions, insecurity, but also [there are] the ones who are confident. You actually can learn a lot by watching the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCarthy Thinks a Celebrity Version Would Be a Hit<\/h2>\n

ABC declined the idea because the network did not want famous people leading the dating series.MEGA<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

The actress also shared why she believes the franchise should finally introduce famous cast members.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel, like, they\u2019re kind of missing out on the celebrity version. They can literally call it the celebrity version of Bachelorette<\/em> \u2019cause I think they would really really do [well],\u201d she stated. \u201cThey\u2019ve got other celebrity versions of everything else. Why would you [not] do the celebrity version of Bachelorette<\/em>? But their loss now because now I\u2019m happily married.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their romance began after Wahlberg appeared on The Jenny McCarthy Show<\/em> in March 2013. Sparks flew shortly after he learned about a live television psychic’s prediction that the two would eventually get married.<\/p>\n

Before finding love together, both stars were already parents. Wahlberg shares two sons with ex-wife Kimberly Fey<\/a>, while McCarthy shares one son with ex-husband Asher.<\/p>\n
