Supermodel Cara Delevingne has revealed she carries a “chip on her shoulder” from her experiences in the fashion industry, having worked extensively before the advent of the MeToo movement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old, who became one of the most recognisable faces in modelling after her career soared in the 2010s, graced runways for prestigious brands such as Victoria\u2019s Secret, Burberry, Chanel, Dior, and Marc Jacobs. <\/p>\n

Delevingne has previously spoken candidly about the profound impact the industry had on her, characterising her time as a model as a “rough time”.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Times, she said: \u201cThere was no safety then, apart from with other girls.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was before MeToo, with this sexual misconduct vibe of straight older photographers, and that is why I am sad, because I still have a chip on my shoulder from all that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would not say, \u2018Advocate for more sympathy for celebrities!\u2019. We just need to have sympathy for ourselves and others more in general, because we are brutal about everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The model left London in 2015 and moved to Los Angeles to \u201creinvent herself\u201d and act.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI had to break free, whether from holding myself back or from how people saw me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hated myself so much and I was just so fragile.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t have a thick enough skin for it then \u2014 but I do now.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to star in a number of films including 2015\u2019s Paper Towns and 2016\u2019s Suicide Squad alongside Margot Robbie.<\/a><\/p>\n

Delevingne, who has since launched her music career, said she had to take some time away from the limelight to \u201cnurture\u201d herself and feel more \u201cstable\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cMy spiral into drugs and alcohol didn\u2019t help.<\/p>\n

\u201cMen get away with it but I can\u2019t name any women who are crazy actresses, like I was. I would go out with all the stunt guys! It didn\u2019t work out well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t advocate for yourself, nobody will. I was a psycho \u2014 going, \u2018I\u2019m fine!\u2019. And yes, people should go, \u2018You OK?\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut then they don\u2019t want to suggest you cancel work. If they do, someone\u2019s not going to get paid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delevingne recently released her singles I Forgot and Out of My Head and has performed a number of shows this summer including in Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, London, Los Angeles and New York.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
