It is Nolan&#8217;s first movie since the 2023 \u200cblockbuster &#8220;Oppenheimer,&#8221; which won Academy \u2060Awards in several categories, including directing and best picture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The Odyssey&#8221; cost $250 million to make. It \u2060received an A CinemaScore from filmgoers who attended opening-night screenings, and an audience rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The \u200bfilm represents \u200bNolan&#8217;s biggest global opening \u200bof all time, without factoring in \u200cinflation, and his third-highest-grossing in the U.S. and Canada, behind &#8220;The Dark Knight&#8221; and &#8220;The Dark Knight Rises.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fans began snapping up &#8220;Odyssey&#8221; tickets a year ago when seats at select IMAX theaters were put on sale. IMAX said demand for tickets \u200cwas so high, more than 50 \u200btheaters across North America added show \u200btimes between midnight \u200band 7 a.m..<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Most scholars believe the epic poem attributed \u200cto Homer was composed in \u200bthe seventh or \u200beighth century BC and was sung before that in oral tradition.
