This preacher\u2019s daughter from East Tennessee has been kicking around for a while, but is looking to break out big with her new album Love It Or Leave It<\/em> out August 21st. <\/p> Colton Dawson \u2013 \u201cPiece of Heaven\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Colton Dawson gets the rare 2nd entry on the playlist by putting out yet another spectacular specimen of modern neotraditional country that doesn\u2019t forgo an emphasis on original songwriting. Colton\u2019s quickly becoming one of the top names on the young neotraditionalist depth charts. <\/p> Alex Williams \u2013 \u201cDrinkin\u2019 Ain\u2019t Enough\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Alex Williams is going to keep the legacy of Outlaw country alive, or kill himself trying. The drinkin\u2019 might not be good for his physical constitution, but it sure does result in some great country songs. This one comes from his brand new EP Discount Country<\/em> that\u2019s anything but the bargain version of country music. <\/p> Paige Plaisance \u2013 \u201cMake Mine Country\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This Cajun princess and the Queen of Sagebrush in Austin gets us excited for new music with this affirming and impassioned plea to keep it country. You won\u2019t get any gripes about that message around here. Whether its a jar of tea or a music track, country is the way we take it too. <\/p> Addison Johnson \u2013 \u201cMoney Business\u201d\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> As it becomes harder and harder to be a full-time musician with any level of integrity, it sure has resulted in some really great songs putting that struggle to words. Addison Johnson has a great one even us civilians can relate to. It\u2019s off his excellent new album The State I\u2019m In<\/em>. <\/p> Trever M. Keith<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cHeartbreak Grin\u201d \u2013<\/strong> The frontman of the punk band Face To Face has released a really great throwback country record called We Drank From a Poisoned Well<\/em>. It\u2019s full of well-written, and authentically-produced songs just like \u201cHeartbreak Grin,\u201d which evokes the Countrypolitan sound, and the irony of cracking a grin when you\u2019re at your worst. <\/p> Wade Bowen<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cTurpentine\u201d \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0When you\u2019re so heart broken you have to reach for them mineral spirits usually reserved for cleaning your paintbrushes, that\u2019s saying something. Wade Bowen isn\u2019t really known for his hard country heartbreakers, but he turns in a great one here. The song\u2019s co-written by Sean McConnell who also produced Wade\u2019s new album The Version of Me You Get<\/em> out September 25th. <\/p> John R. Miller \u2013 \u201cLooking For a Place to Die\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 John R. Miller\u2019s song on class struggle and the technological distopia becomes a country rock heater complete with killer guitar solos.
