Stephen Colbert<\/strong><\/a> broke his social media silence for one very sweet and oh-so sentimental reason.<\/p>\n

Colbert, 62, returned to social media for the first time in several weeks on Sunday, July 19, taking to Instagram<\/a> to share a photo of his adorable pooch resting on a chair.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy 7th Birthday, Benny,\u201d Colbert wrote in text over the pic of the dark brown Boykin Spaniel, marking his four-legged family member\u2019s special day.<\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s post comes nearly two months after he said goodbye to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/em> following its cancellation by CBS.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFormer The Daily Show correspondent and beloved late night host Stephen Colbert shocked fans in July 2025 when he announced that CBS has decided to end The Late Show With Stephen Colbert \u2014 and the late night program overall \u2014 in May 2026. The surprising move retired the longtime late night franchise, launched by David [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The network announced in July 2025 that the show would be ending, with the network sharing at the time that the decision was not \u201crelated in any way to the show\u2019s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount\u201d but was instead due to finances. Colbert broke his silence on the cancellation at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we start the show I want to let you know something that I found out just last night. Next year will be our last season,\u201d he said during a July 2025 taping as the audience booed. \u201cI share your feelings. It\u2019s not just the end of our show, but it\u2019s the end of The Late Show<\/em> on CBS. I\u2019m not being replaced. This is all just going away.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners. \u2026 And I\u2019m grateful to the audience, you, who have joined us every night, in here, out there and all around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
