\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMatt Damon and Zendaya in The Odyssey<\/em>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \t<\/p>\n Erik Gruenwedel<\/a><\/p>\n July 20, 2026<\/p>\n \t<\/p>\n AMC Entertainment July 20 announced that more than 4.3 million moviegoers attended AMC Theatres in the United States and Odeon Cinemas internationally from July 16 \u2013 19, led by the opening of Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey<\/em>.<\/p>\n AMC saw strong attendance in Imax at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, Prime at AMC, and XL at AMC, along with iSense, Imax, Dolby Cinema and XL screens in Europe.<\/p>\n Demand remained so high that select premium format auditoriums operated continuously throughout the weekend, with showtimes extending in some AMC theatres in the U.S. for more than 85 consecutive hours.<\/p>\n Flagship locations\u00a0<\/i>AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York, AMC Metreon 16 in San Francisco, and Los Angeles market theatres AMC Burbank 16, AMC Century City 15, AMC The Grove 14, and Universal Cinema all operated around the clock Thursday morning through Sunday night.<\/p>\n With a media-reported domestic opening weekend of approximately $124 million, the Universal Pictures\u2019 release becomes the second movie in the past five weeks to have a domestic opening weekend above $100 million, and the eighth film since late March to open above $75 million domestically.<\/p>\n The Odyssey<\/em> was also the best opening weekend box office performance across the AMC U.S. circuit for any R-rated title since 2024.<\/p>\n \u201cFor the past several days, [the movie] has been at the center of the pop culture conversation across both the United States and Europe, once again demonstrating how deeply movie theatres are woven into the fabric of society,\u201d said AMC CEO Adam Aron.<\/p>\n
