Anne Hathaway<\/a> is sharing an update on the status of the highly anticipated Princess Diaries 3<\/em>.<\/p>\nTwo years after the project was first officially announced, Hathaway, 43, who starred in the first two movies as Mia Thermopolis, a regular teen who finds out she\u2019s the princess of a small European country, says production is \u201cmoving in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI can say I think we had a story breakthrough,\u201d she shared during an appearance on SiriusXM\u2019s <\/a>Radio Andy<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI think we are moving in the right direction. However, since then, updates have been scarce.<\/p>\nProducer Debra Martin Chase, who produced the first two movies, shared an update with PEOPLE in June, saying that she was \u201cmore than hopeful<\/a>\u201d that the movie would be moving forward soon.<\/p>\n\u201cWe had hoped to be shooting this year,\u201d she said. \u201cSo, it\u2019s coming. We\u2019re intent upon making it happen. And we\u2019re excited that the people are excited.
