Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/strong><\/a> is breaking down wife Rebecca Romijn<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s reaction to John Stamos<\/strong><\/a> detailing their past relationship in his candid memoir, If You Would Have Told Me<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting back to Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos\u2019 relationship, my wife was very upset that John Stamos wrote a memoir \u2014 which was riveting. It\u2019s terrific. I\u2019m sure you can get it. But there was a chapter about the demise of their marriage,\u201d O\u2019Connell, 52, said on the Monday, July 20, episode of SiriusXM\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa\u201d<\/a> podcast.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cAnd it really upset my wife that he put that in there. Now, if you\u2019re gonna write a memoir and you\u2019re John Stamos, you gotta put that in there, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Host Kelly Ripa <\/strong>chimed in to note that \u201cpeople wanna read about that part.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDid he send her the chapter involving her before the book came out?\u201d Ripa, 55, asked, to which O\u2019Connell coyly replied, \u201cThat\u2019s up to my wife to tell you. I don\u2019t believe he did but that\u2019s up to my wife to tell you if my wife had a heads-up. I don\u2019t believe my wife had a heads-up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor shed more light on the subject after he and Stamos, 62, saw each other at Howie Mandel<\/strong>\u2018s birthday party in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn Stamos was at this party and I was like, \u2018I got to make a beeline for [him]\u2026I got to go extend my hand,’\u201d O\u2019Connell told Andy Cohen<\/strong> on Radio Andy in June, revealing there didn\u2019t seem to be any lingering tension. \u201cI said, \u2018Hey man, how are you? It\u2019s so good to see you.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Stamos and Romijn, now 53, began dating in 1994 before getting engaged three years later. The couple tied the knot in 1998, but had tensions in their marriage \u2014 at least, according to Stamos\u2019 2023 memoir.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJohn Stamos is opening up about his painful divorce from ex-wife Rebecca Romijn. The Full House actor, 62, began dating Romijn, 53, in 1994 and they tied the knot in 1998. However, the relationship came to an end six years later, and their divorce was finalized in 2005. \u201cIt broke my heart. I didn\u2019t want [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019m lifting Rebecca up, I\u2019m losing myself,\u201d Stamos wrote, claiming there were \u201ctoxic friends\u201d in Romijn\u2019s circle who had a strong influence. \u201cShe makes it clear that I\u2019m the TV guy and she\u2019s the newly minted star. \u2026 Somewhere deep inside, I start to believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stamos recalled facing \u201cups and downs\u201d during their marriage, noting that they had \u201czero talk about having kids and starting a family\u201d despite that \u201calways\u201d being their plan. In his perspective, Romijn was too \u201cbusy with her career and new friends\u201d to notice that Stamos was \u201cslipping away.\u201d He went on to hint at \u201csomething cruel and calculating\u201d infiltrating their once \u201cpleasant\u201d relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe smiles at me a little less, doesn\u2019t look me in the eyes over dinner, takes phone calls in the other room. \u2026 Betrayal starts as a sinking feeling<\/a> in your stomach, grows into a suspicion that clouds your every thought, and by the time you find out the truth, it\u2019s uniquely horrible at first but also expected, like you\u2019ve been waiting for something bad to happen,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing more to say. There\u2019s a point of no return, and what felt like a phase is now her phasing me out for good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stamos and Romijn quietly separated in 2003, going public with their split the following year. He filed for divorce in 2004 and the proceedings were finalized one year later. (A rep for the exes previously denied cheating played a role in their breakup.)<\/p>\n
