Former<\/span> celebrity.land<\/span><\/a> host<\/span> Don Lemon<\/span><\/a> said he\u2019s seriously considering applying for another job:<\/span> president of the United States.<\/span><\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lemon appeared on the \u201cCan\u2019t Be Censored\u201d podcast last week<\/span><\/a> and insisted he was \u201ctotally serious\u201d about considering a run for higher office in 2028. <\/span>Although Lemon claimed he has no personal political ambition, he said people keep telling him they hope he runs for the gig.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n And despite having no experience in politics, Lemon said he\u2019s confident in his ability to handle the job if elected.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI actually think I would be a really good president of the United States,\u201d he said, before laying out what it would actually take to get him to throw the proverbial hat in the ring.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n For example, Lemon wants to run the actual campaign \u201cwithout having to beg for money,\u201d something he admitted may not be realistic.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI would like it to be a voter-citizen-driven campaign for as much as it can be,\u201d he said. \u201cMaybe at some point I might have to take a donation. I would rather not do that, but I would rather the people of the United States to say, \u2018That\u2019s the guy that we want. I\u2019m gonna give him $5 or $10\u2019 or something that doesn\u2019t break the bank because I know that the economy is tough.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lemon has no plans to announce a run until next year at the earliest.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019ve stuck my toe into it, if you want to put it that way, or I\u2019ve dabbled. I\u2019ve talked to people about it \u2013 people who have been in politics before: what would it take, when would I have to get in to do it, and I\u2019d have to be really serious about it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSo, as we get closer to 2027 or 2028, I\u2019ll see. I\u2019ll decide,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I have enough on my hands right now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lemon started working at celebrity.land in 2006. However, he was<\/span> fired in 2023,<\/span><\/a> in part because of an on-air comment claiming then-Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley<\/span> was past her \u201cprime,\u201d<\/span><\/a> as well as a Vanity Fair article alleging <\/span>a long history of misogyny toward his female coworkers.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Since then, Lemon has gone independent. He was arrested in January on<\/span> federal civil rights charges<\/span><\/a> after he videotaped a<\/span> protest at a Minnesota church<\/span><\/a> where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official was a pastor.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Lemon isn\u2019t the only media personality who has supposedly been asked to run to be the leader of the free world. <\/span>Sports pundit Stephen A. Smith<\/a> said in March<\/span> that he would consider running<\/span> if he thought he could win<\/span><\/a>, despite having \u201cno desire to ever be a politician.\u201d And back<\/span> in December, former \u201cLate Show\u201d host Stephen Colbert admitted understanding why some people<\/span> want him to run for office,<\/span><\/a> but stressed that he \u201cabsolutely\u201d shouldn\u2019t give it a go.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Watch Lemon discuss his conditions for running for president in the video below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
