Initially taking her cues from the Low End Theory scene of Los Angeles, she began making beats on Audacity in her bedroom, splicing these with spoken word observations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drawn into Chicago\u2019s experimental music scene, megiapa opened for artists like\u00a0<strong>Makaya McCraven<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Bottle Tree<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ben LaMar Gay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kicking off work on \u2018Intentions\u2019 thanks to a grant from the city\u2019s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, she later completed the album in Los Angeles after moving to the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shift, and those personal experiences, opened something inside her, enabling megiapa to complete the record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/international-anthem.lnk.to\/Intentions\">Out on September 25th<\/a><\/span><\/strong> via International Anthem, the record is led by beatific, evocative new song \u2018Open Your Eyes\u2019.
