Comedian Whitney Cummings<\/strong> <\/a>is pulling back the curtain on a joke about President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> that was cut from her new special.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only did I have to cut a joke in rehearsal, and then the joke I did \u2014 I ended on, \u2018Donald Trump couldn\u2019t make it tonight. He got caught in sex traffic.\u2019 It stayed in and then they said, \u2018We would like to cut it out,\u2019\u201d Cummings, 46, said on the Saturday, July 18, episode of her \u201cGood For You\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cI\u2019m going to be very careful with how I say this because the people at the venue have been amazing. They don\u2019t want to silence anyone. It is true that their boss is Donald Trump. So they did their job.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI was presented with a tricky conundrum. I just don\u2019t know if I did the right thing or not. It was very clear to me that they would lose their jobs \u2026 This is for broadcast, the joke was already leaked by someone who was in the audience, journalists or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cummings performed her set at Bill Maher<\/strong>\u2019s Mark Twain Prize ceremony at the Kennedy Center on June 28. Nearly one month later, the broadcast from the event is set to stream on Netflix Tuesday, July 21 \u2014 and the joke will be omitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said, \u2018We need to cut it from the broadcast,\u2019\u201d Cummings continued on Saturday. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, it\u2019s already out there. Who cares?\u2019 And they\u2019re like, \u2018He will sue you.\u2019 Which is like, I don\u2019t buy it, number one. Number two, he might.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cummings went on to share that it was ironic she had to cut the joke at the ceremony for the Mark Twain Prize, which she called \u201cthe only time that you shouldn\u2019t get censored because it is about comedians using humor to criticize our elected officials.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I was in this jam where I was like, \u2018I need to fight for this joke because it\u2019s the Mark Twain Prize and this is the time I feel like I have to. But also, I don\u2019t want anybody losing their job,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cBut if it\u2019s just about him suing me, I was like, \u2018OK.\u2019 I mean, I\u2019d have to fly to D.C., which is kind of annoying.
