Veteran actor Ed Harris has a knack for taking on juicy roles. Apparently, his recent turn on the Taylor Sheridan drama \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d is not one of them. <\/p>\n
Harris, a four-time Oscar nominee known for \u201cThe Truman Show\u201d and \u201cApollo 13,\u201d spoke bluntly about his experience on the \u201cYellowstone\u201d spinoff, telling Variety\u2019s Marc Malkin<\/a> at a red carpet premiere Monday that he was ready to drop the show midway through its first season. \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d debuted in May on Paramount and Paramount+.<\/p>\n \u201cGet me the f\u2014 out of here,\u201d Harris, 75, recalled telling his team. <\/p>\n A representative for Paramount did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday. <\/p>\n Harris, who was promoting his Apple TV sports comedy film \u201cThe Dink,\u201d plays veterinarian Dr. Everett McKinney and stars opposite \u201cYellowstone\u201d alumni Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser on \u201cDutton Ranch.\u201d The actor said Monday he didn\u2019t \u201cfeel [he] was being used\u201d in the series and \u201cfelt a little bit misled.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to filming Season 1 of \u201cDutton Ranch,\u201d Harris said he spoke to the creative team about the series and his character\u2019s role, and was informed that he would be a main character.<\/p>\n \u201cThat really wasn\u2019t the case,\u201d he said, adding that he told production, \u201cI\u2019m feeling underused and inconsequential.\u201d<\/p>\n Harris alleged the \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d team left a scene of his character singing on the cutting room floor (\u201cthat really pissed me off\u201d) and said production has since reassured him that he will have more substance to work with in Season 2. The series was renewed in June and Season 2 begins filming in February. <\/p>\n Overall, Harris said his \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d experience was a \u201clittle frustrating\u201d and that his character\u2019s importance on-screen did not match what he felt behind the scenes. <\/p>\n \u201cDutton Ranch\u201d follows Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) as they move from Montana to South Texas to build a new life.
