Now it\u2019s taking a different path:\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/sony-music-files-new-lawsuit-against-ai-platform-udio-asserting-over-30000-sound-recordings-a-judge-barred-it-from-adding-to-its-original-case\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filing a second copyright infringement lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0with those extra tracks.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fans of 1,102-page documents (not to mention nosy rival labels)\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28500966-sony-v-udio-songs\/?mode=document\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">can find the full list here<\/a>, although even this is described as \u201conly a small portion\u201d of the recordings that Sony Music claims have been used to train Udio\u2019s models.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The label is thus turning up the heat on Udio, despite its fellow majors having settled their lawsuits and signed licensing deals with the company in recent months, fuelling its work on a new, licensed service.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of two notable cracks in the united front presented by the majors on AI \u2013\u00a0the other being the fact that Warner Music Group has settled with Suno and licensed that company, while UMG and Sony are still suing it.\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At our Music Ally Connect conference in January, UMG\u2019s Jonathan Dworkin\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2026\/01\/22\/umgs-jonathan-dworkin-talks-ai-udio-nvidia-artists-and-more\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heavily praised Udio and its CEO Andrew Sanchez<\/a>, saying \u201cyou could not find a more lovely human being\u2026 His attitude from the start was \u2018look, we know that we didn\u2019t do this the right way, and we want to make it right\u2019.\u201d\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s kind of weird. You\u2019re kind of waiting for the mask to slip and see that the guy\u2019s actually evil, but the truth is that he\u2019s not.
