Savannah Guthrie<\/a>, Craig Melvin<\/a> and Al Roker<\/a> were all absent from the “Today” show broadcast on Tuesday, July 21, days after the show faced an intruder incident<\/a>.<\/p>\n Willie Geist<\/a> greeted viewers at the top of NBC\u2019s morning program with Sheinelle Jones<\/a>, who co-hosts \u201cToday with Jenna & Sheinelle.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThank you for joining us on this Tuesday morning,\u201d Geist, 51, said. \u201cWe are in for Savannah and Craig.\u201d<\/p>\n Later in the episode, meteorologist Dylan Dreyer<\/a> filled in for Roker.<\/p>\n Guthrie, 54, previously announced that she\u2019d be missing from \u201cToday\u201d for a \u201cfew weeks,\u201d<\/a> while she filmed the first season of the \u201cWordle,\u201d a game show inspired by The New York Times game, in which players guess a five-letter word. Guthrie predicted the new series<\/a> would likely air on NBC \u201cin the New Year.\u201d Her absence comes amid the ongoing search for her mother Nancy Guthrie<\/a>, who disappeared from her Arizona home on Feb. 1.<\/p>\n Guthrie also mentioned<\/a> during the July 20 broadcast of \u201cToday\u201d that Melvin, 47, was out for a “little family vacation.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Roker, 71, has recently shared moments from a trip to Chicago with his followers on social media<\/a>, including a trip to Wrigley Field. While in The Windy City, Roker hosted the Chicago International Film Festival\u2019s Cinema Soir\u00e9e on Saturday, July 18.<\/p>\n Guthrie, Melvin and Roker\u2019s absences follow a July 16 incident when a person identified as\u00a0Andrew Truelove<\/a>, slipped past “Today” security<\/a> and managed to confront Melvin off-air, allegedly calling him a racial slur, according to records reviewed by USA TODAY. There was “no altercation, and no one was injured” during the incident, per a “Today” show statement.<\/p>\n USA TODAY has reached out to \u201cToday\u201d for comment on when the anchors would return.<\/p>\n On July 17, Roker expressed his appreciation for those who reached out after the incident on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cA really heartfelt thank you to all who reached out over the last 24 hours to check in on my brother, [Craig Melvin],\u201d Roker captioned a montage of images of the two. \u201cWe are both okay. It\u2019s moments like these that serve to pull us together.
