Rosie O’Donnell<\/strong><\/a> <\/a>once received an unwelcome request from a fellow celebrity.<\/p>\n

In an interview with People<\/a> published on Tuesday, July 21, the former talk show host, 64,<\/a> discussed her weight-loss journey<\/a> and revealed she was once told to lose weight while filming the 1992 sports comedy-drama film A League of Their Own.<\/p>\n

“It’s very strange to just buy a pair of jeans that fit. When I would do late-night, my biggest concern wasn’t my set \u2014 it was, did I look fat?” O’Donnell recalled. “On League of Their Own, [late director] Penny Marshall<\/strong><\/a> didn’t help by saying, ‘Rosie, I want you to lose 20 lbs.’ I’m like, ‘You think I carry it around for fun, Penny?'”<\/p>\n

The comedian added that<\/a>, “When I look back, I go, ‘God, I wish I could have enjoyed the size I was.’ I’m now at that same weight. But I feel much healthier, more powerful in my own physicality.”<\/p>\n

However, O’Donnell seemingly put Marshall’s comment behind her as she welcomed her as a guest on The Rosie O’Donnell Show<\/a> in the late ’90s.<\/p>\n

As for how the actress was able to lose weight eventually, she told People, the GLP-1 Mounjaro “changed my life.”<\/p>\n

“I started three years ago when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I was stunned at how it quieted the food noise,” O’Donnell admitted. “I’ve had trouble with my weight my whole life.”<\/p>\n

“I know the shame and humiliation dealt to people who are overweight,” she continued. “My kids would come home from trick-or-treating with pillowcases full of candy and hide it. Smart children. I’d wake up at 3 in the morning and go, ‘There’s a Nestl\u00e9’s Crunch bar somewhere.’ I couldn’t help myself.”<\/p>\n
