Jerry O\u2019Connell apologizes to Giuliana Rancic for being a \u201cterrible boyfriend\u201d during their relationship while on the July 19 episode of Let\u2019s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n \u201cLet me take this moment to apologize to Giuliana Rancic. I\u2019m not kidding about being a terrible boyfriend,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n O\u2019Connell confirmed breaking up with Rancic via intercom and explained his reasoning behind it<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/a> has apologized to ex-girlfriend Giuliana Rancic<\/a> for being a \u201cterrible boyfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n On the July 19 episode of SiriusXM\u2019s Let\u2019s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>O\u2019Connell, 52, admitted to being a \u201cterrible boyfriend\u201d to Rancic, 51, with whom he dated briefly in the early 2000s, and explained the story behind their intercom breakup.\u00a0<\/p>\n When host Kelly Ripa<\/a>, 55, asked O\u2019Connell about his relationship with Rancic, the Stand By Me <\/em>actor noted that though they \u201chad a lot of fun together,\u201d he was a \u201cpretty terrible boyfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n In her 2016 memoir Going Off Script<\/em>, Rancic alleged that O\u2019Connell cheated on her and ended their relationship over an intercom. I was the worst. I wasn\u2019t the worst boyfriend. I was just a bad boyfriend. Thank goodness, buzzer, gate, security. I paid a pretty hefty homeowner\u2019s fee for these things.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Connell continued, \u201cI said, \u2018I did not know you were coming. You can\u2019t come up here. You can\u2019t come here unannounced.\u2019 Notice no one had a key, so the relationship was not like that, but that was why: I didn\u2019t like someone coming to my condominium without an invite or even a text or even a phone call\u2026 There was no warning. And I didn\u2019t want someone coming in, because I didn\u2019t want any confrontation.\u201d<\/p>\n Ripa, then, proceeded to read a line from Rancic\u2019s memoir on what O\u2019Connell told her during their intercom breakup: \u201cNope. Sorry, home girl. Things change, but you take care, okay?\u201d<\/p>\n After Ripa pressed him on whether he said that, O\u2019Connell replied, \u201cI don\u2019t recall exact wording, so I can\u2019t deny that I said that. It doesn\u2019t sound like something I would say. I mean, if I were writing a memoir, it made for a good quote,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m going to applaud Giuliana for using colorful dialogue and everything.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n PEOPLE has reached out to Rancic for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n O\u2019Connell recently celebrated 19 years of marriage to Rebecca Romijn<\/a> on July 14. The two tied the knot in 2007 and share two kids, 17-year-old twins Charlie and Dolly. Rancic married Bill Rancic<\/a>, the original winner of the Apprentice<\/em>, in 2007.
