Anne Hathaway<\/a>, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron on The Odyssey – told CBS Mornings: “I want to stay in the moment. I want the actors to stay in the moment.<\/p>\n“For me, the Ugg boots are a signifier of modernity, absurd though that is.”<\/p>\n
Despite this, Nolan insists he doesn’t have an issue with Ugg boots off set.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “Sometimes actors will turn up \u2014 because the footwear hurts \u2014 they’ll turn up in these big fluffy, comfy slippers.<\/p>\n
\n“The funny thing is, you can be on set with a guy holding a microphone, you’ve got a giant camera, you’ve got crew everywhere. But something like that can actually weirdly take you out of reality.”<\/p>\n
\nNolan also bans his stars from snacking between takes.<\/p>\n
\nHe shared: “It’s like if someone’s eating a bag of chips off camera. There’s certain things that just remind you’re in the real world, as opposed to the world we’re trying to create for the actors.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Matt Damon recently hailed Nolan, admitting to being amazed by his vision for The Odyssey.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to Collider, Matt shared: “I don’t know how he did it. I don’t know. <\/p>\n
\n“I mean, the amount of vision that it took to build this world and how intentional it was. He talked about it from the moment we had our first conversation about it, and how it’s myth, it’s this ancient world, but he wanted to ground it. <\/p>\n
\n“So all of those conversations about the wardrobe and the layering and the layers of dirt and everything, it was about this comprehensive effort on the part of all the departments to just really world-build.<\/p>\n
\n“Then, to be able to do it on IMAX, which was the goal, but we didn’t know if we’d do it. He didn’t announce that as we set off. I mean, we knew that was the intention, but we didn’t know if we’d be able to do it, and that is the final piece that just puts you there.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
