\n\tFans of Amazon Prime\u2019s hit series<\/a> \u201cOff Campus\u201d<\/a> would likely agree that lead actor Belmont Cameli<\/a>\u2018s curls bolster his character\u2019s heartthrob hockey player appeal.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo it may come as a major shock that Cameli himself likens his off camera texture to Albert Einstein\u2019s static ends.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wear my hair curly and messy and lived-in all the time. I usually end up looking like Einstein on a daily basis,\u201d the breakout star told WWD in an exclusive interview. \u201cWe set my hair a little more specifically in the show for Garrett [Graham], and in season two, it\u2019s a little bit more lived-in. It\u2019s definitely different, but it\u2019s not too much of a different process.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhere lead hairstylist Debra Wiebe typically clips and diffuses his curls on set, Cameli will coat his hair in cream and mousse and call it a day. The hero products in his current rotation consist of TRESemm\u00e9\u2019s Bouncy Curls collection.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHaving curly hair can be complicated,\u201d Cameli confessed. \u201cWhich is why I\u2019m happy to be partnering with TRESemm\u00e9 because their line of Bouncy Curls is super efficient, super lightweight, no frizz, no crunch, and you can define and set those curls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCentered around the expansion of the brand\u2019s hero curl ritual, Cameli\u2019s collaboration with the household hair brand calls attention to not just a defining characteristic of his fictional persona but his real-life identity, too. The campaign, titled \u201cHot Curl Summer,\u201d follows the star through his curl journey, from flat, diffused waves to bouncy, volumnious coils, post-shower.<\/p>\n

\n\tLike his rise to prominence, curly hair was an unexpected pleasure that arrived later in his life and took some getting used to. \u201cMy hair was straight as a kid. I was a little nerdy kid with glasses and a straight parted short haircut,\u201d he said. \u201cAs I got older and started growing my hair out more, my hair started getting wavy and then curly, and I was like, \u2018Oh god, I don\u2019t know how to do this.\u2019 So, it\u2019s been a real journey for me. I\u2019ve evolved when it comes to my hair, and my hair itself has evolved quite a bit. I\u2019ve just been figuring it out as I go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAt one point, Cameli was rocking a mullet<\/a> \u2014 or, at least he tried to. He\u2019s also attempted the slick-back look from time to time, but he prefers to leave that one to the professionals. Recently, he has been collaborating with celebrity groomer Aika Flores, whose A-list client roster also includes \u201cHeated Rivalry\u201d lead Hudson Williams and his \u201cOff Campus\u201d costar Antonio Cipriano, the actor behind John Logan.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Garrett Graham, Cameli\u2019s curls are often gelled off his forehead and his face is clean-shaven to evoke a younger persona. \u201cGarrett as an athlete and as a person is a little more, maybe not buttoned up, but specific about everything in his life, and so his look is one of those things. From the way he wears his clothes to the way he wears his hair, everything is thought out as a part of building out that character. He\u2019s an athlete, he\u2019s intentional about a lot of things in his life, and his hair would be one of them,\u201d Cameli said. <\/p>\n

\n\tOf his favorite outfit in Garrett\u2019s wardrobe, Cameli said he loved the suit he wore to the NCAA board meeting in episode eight, where the fate of his college hockey career was decided. \u201cObviously, it was not a good day for him when he went to the meeting, but that was a fun departure from the usual Garrett street clothes. I loved seeing him in a more formal look with his hair even more pulled back. That was a fun deviation from the day to day,\u201d he noted. <\/p>\n

\n\tLooking ahead to season two, the actor, who\u2019s currently filming with the rest of the cast in Vancouver, teased: \u201cGarrett and Hannah [played by Ella Bright] have a whole new arc, which has been fun to play out. We haven\u2019t read all of the episodes quite yet, but there\u2019s a lot of good Garrett and Hannah coming for our fans, and obviously Dean and Ally [played by Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla, respectively] are doing their thing, and they\u2019re going to be such a highlight of this season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut the beauty<\/a> of season two that we captured well in season one, and even more alive now, is the ensemble,\u201d he continued. \u201cEverybody has storylines running concurrently. So if there were characters you wanted more from, you\u2019re gonna get more from everybody this season. It\u2019s a lot more balanced, which is fun. And there\u2019s some new characters, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
