The clangy, flinty, ruminative Boston DIY indie trio formed in 2010, quickly cranked out three albums, helped inspire a wave of peers, and broke up in 2015<\/a>. It was a classic case of a band just suddenly stopping mid-groove, and the story always seemed incomplete. Three years after their ending, Krill reunited<\/a> to play LVL UP’s final show. In 2019, all three members reunited to form a new<\/em> band called Knot<\/a>, and they released a self-titled album<\/a> in 2020. Now, they’re back to being Krill.<\/p>\n Later this month, the newly reactivated Krill will play a headlining set at Boston’s NICE Fest<\/a>. Today, they release the single “Commemorative Plaque,” their first newly recorded song in a decade. It’s a drawling, oblique mood piece with intricately spiky guitars, which means it sounds like classic Krill. Chicago multi-instrumentalist Macie Stewart, one of our favorite new artists of last year<\/a>, adds violin, while longtime collaborator Will Greene plays saxophone. Check it out below.<\/p>\n
