Paul Heaton has released a new single, Sad Songs and Lawsuits.<\/p>\n

The storytelling\u00a0ska-pop track\u00a0is the latest preview of his new album, ‘Jenius’, which is set to arrive on August 21. Introducing it, Heaton said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s obviously tempting to think it’s about me, but it genuinely isn’t. It doesn’t really make that much sense. I know what it’s about roughly, though. It’s about how so many romances go wrong and end up in either lyrics or lawsuits.<\/p>\n
\n <\/p>\n“I risked putting an instrumental chorus in for the very first time, which I thought might sound puny. By the time we built it up, I was glad I\u2019d risked it. The night after writing this, I told Jonny (guitarist and\u00a0co-writer Jonny Lexus), \u201cThat song’s going to be really good.\u201d”<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\nThe former Beautiful South and Housemartins vocalist previously teased the new record with its\u00a0first single, Favourite Kind Of Idiot<\/a> featuring his\u00a0regular collaborator Rianne Downey, who will join him on his UK arena tour this autumn. Tickets are on sale now.<\/p>\n
