{"id":2512872,"date":"2026-07-22T17:43:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T17:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2512872"},"modified":"2026-07-22T17:43:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T17:43:18","slug":"downtown-marana-project-back-on-track-after-legal-wrangling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/downtown-marana-project-back-on-track-after-legal-wrangling\/","title":{"rendered":"Downtown Marana project back on track after legal wrangling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Arizona Supreme Court has given the Marana Downtown entertainment district the green light to proceed after months of legal wrangling, including a failed effort by a political action committee to get a referendum on Tuesday\u2019s ballot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>On Monday, the court rejected a petition to review the town\u2019s decision earlier this year to throw out referendum petitions challenging its plan to lease land for the project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Town Manager Terry Rozema said Marana\u2019s decision to lease 19 acres of town property to developers Scott Stiteler and Rudy Dabdoub to create a walkable entertainment and retail district was an administrative act, not legislative; only legislative issues can be referable to the ballot, he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Stiteler and Dabdoub\u2019s Marana Downtown on North Marana Main Street and West Civic Center Drive will include restaurants, retail shops, a brewery, coffee shop, dance hall and rodeo arena.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rozema called Monday\u2019s decision \u201can exciting milestone for our community\u201d that will give the town \u201cthat sense of place, of this is who we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cI think that&#8217;s what this thing is going to do,\u201d he said. \u201cIt&#8217;s going to finally give our community a place that they can be proud of from a downtown standpoint.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rozema said Stitler can now bring in the architects to design the 870,000-square-foot project.
