Jennifer Aniston<\/strong><\/a> has reportedly stepped away from Jennette McCurdy<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s I\u2019m Glad My Mom Died<\/em> TV show adaptation.<\/p>\n

Multiple outlets reported on Tuesday, July 21, that Aniston, 57, exited from the AppleTV+ project due to a scheduling conflict. Sources told TMZ<\/a> on Tuesday that McCurdy\u2019s show is still being worked on, with scripts being written.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> reached out to AppleTV and Aniston\u2019s reps for comment.<\/p>\n

Aniston was set to play McCurdy\u2019s mother<\/a> on screen, while also serving as an executive producer. The show would have marked her second lead role in a TV show since Friends<\/em> ended in 2004, with Aniston\u2019s AppleTV+ hit series The Morning Show<\/em> debuting in 2021.<\/p>\n

Apple TV+ greenlit a series order<\/a> for I\u2019m Glad My Mom Died<\/em> in July 2025, with the first season consisting of 10 episodes. The series is reportedly being written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy, 34, and Ari Katcher. Sharon Horgan<\/strong> and Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael<\/strong> and Erica Kay<\/strong> are also serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n

Based on the synopsis<\/a>, the show is \u201ca heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of McCurdy\u2019s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother.\u201d I\u2019m Glad My Mom Died<\/em> will \u201ccenter on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid\u2019s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as \u2018a starlet\u2019s mother.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

McCurdy, who got her start as a child star in Nickelodeon\u2019s iCarly <\/em>and Sam & Cat<\/em>, released her memoir in 2022. The book became a bestseller, following the story of McCurdy\u2019s childhood and abusive behavior from her mother, Debra McCurdy<\/strong>, who died in 2013.<\/p>\n
