<\/story-highlights> Happy Birthday, Prince George<\/a>!<\/p>\n The eldest child of Prince William<\/a> and Princess Kate<\/a> turned 13 on July 22, and to mark the occasion his parents shared a never-before-seen photo of the teenager.<\/p>\n In the photo, posted to Instagram<\/a>, the future king is seen looking directly at the camera. He is dressed smartly, wearing a dark blazer and crisp white shirt.<\/p>\n The portrait was taken by photographer Matt Porteous after last month’s Trooping the Colour <\/a>ceremony.<\/p>\n “Happy 13th Birthday, George!” read the caption, alongside a party popper emoji.<\/p>\n William and Kate also shared a short video to mark the occasion, showing George enjoying life outdoors: playing sport on the beach and cliff-hopping by the ocean. In the post, they thanked people for sending the prince well wishes.<\/p>\n After William, George is next in line to the British throne. He is followed in the line of succession by sister Princess Charlotte, 11, and brother Prince Louis, 8.<\/p>\n The Wales children represent the next generation of royals, along with\u00a0Prince Harry’s and Duchess Meghan’s children\u00a0Prince Archie, 7, and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet.<\/p>\n See new photo and video of Prince George on his 13th birthday<\/p>\n Prince William and Princess Kate posted a video and a new portrait of Prince George, first in line to the throne after William, on his 13th birthday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/media-video><\/div>\n It’s been quite the summer for Prince George, who has been seen at several royal and national events, including Trooping the Colour<\/a> in June for the official celebration of King Charles’ birthday and Wimbledon<\/a> to watch the men’s singles final.<\/p>\n Earlier this month, George, along with his siblings, cheered mom Kate along as she completed the Three Peaks Challenge<\/a> mountain climb to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Kate was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 but announced in January 2025\u00a0that she was relieved to be in remission<\/a> from the disease.<\/p>\n Last year, the Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated George’s 12th birthday\u00a0with a photo of him<\/a> looking like a mirror image of his father. In the snap, the young prince is seen smiling while resting on a wooden gate.<\/p>\n In contrast to this year’s portrait, he is dressed casually, sporting a blue and white button-down shirt and chocolate brown zip-up vest.<\/p>\n George will follow in his father’s footsteps when he starts at a new school in September, the prestigious Eton College in Berkshire.
