Charli xcx claims the dance floor is dead on her latest album, \u201cMusic, Fashion, Film,\u201d out Friday. She\u2019s making \u201cRock Music\u201d this time around, at least, her version of it: a bit troll-y, a bit sincere, full of distorted guitars and processed vocals. But her pop heart remains intact, like on the depressed and dreamy \u201cSS26.\u201d If that\u2019s not enough to inspire curiosity, perhaps this is: The album\u2019s sole feature credit is Canadian auteur and beloved horror filmmaker David Cronenberg on its closer, \u201cNo One Lasts Forever.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-wisiwig-list-item=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1\"><span>Grammy-winning South African artist Tyla burst onto the mainstream with her 2023 global hit \u201cWater.\u201d It married R&amp;B, pop and amapiano \u2014 a style of music which translates to \u201cthe pianos\u201d in the Zulu language, a fusion of Kwaito house music and jazz, often driven by log drums. And it did so at a time when hunger and curiosity for African music was at an all-time high. Afrobeats have only continued to skyrocket in the time since, and Tyla has proven to be no one-hit wonder. She\u2019s paved her own path. On Friday, she will release her sophomore album, \u201cA*POP.\u201d It\u2019s the next evolution of her sound, which features a dancehall collaboration with Zara Larsson, \u201cShe Did It Again,\u201d the amapiano-pop \u201cChanel\u201d and so much more.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\"><span>\u2014 AP music writer Maria Sherman<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-wisiwig-body1=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1 mb_$body1\"><span> <\/span><span><strong style=\"font-weight:bold\">NEW MOVIES TO STREAM<\/strong><\/span><span> <\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-wisiwig-bulleted-list=\"true\" class=\"ml_[40px] mb_1.5em list-type_disc\">\n<li data-wisiwig-list-item=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1\"><span>Pickleball is the target of the new Apple TV comedy \u201cThe Dink,\u201d starring Jake Johnson as a tennis pro who \u201calmost beat Andy Roddick\u201d and reluctantly takes up the popular sport while recovering from an injury. The movie, available to stream Friday, co-stars Ben Stiller, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Harris and Patton Oswalt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-wisiwig-list-item=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1\"><span>Kevin Hart goes on a bachelor party trip with some twentysomethings after being accidentally included in the group chat in the new Netflix comedy \u201c72 Hours,\u201d streaming Friday. Said twentysomethings are played by \u201cSNL\u201d cast members Marcello Hern\u00e1ndez, Kam Patterson and Ben Marshall, with Mason Gooding as the groom-to-be.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-wisiwig-list-item=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1\"><span>\u201cBlue Heron,\u201d streaming on the Criterion Channel as of Tuesday, made The Associated Press\u2019s list for best movies of the year so far. Film writer Jake Coyle wrote that, \u201cSophy Romvari\u2019s exquisite and soulful directorial debut melds documentary and fiction, past and present. It\u2019s based on her own childhood, when her Hungarian parents moved their family of six to Vancouver Island in British Columbia. It\u2019s an aching, probing memory piece.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-wisiwig-list-item=\"true\" class=\"txtStyle_body1\"><span>Another movie that made our list, \u201cNirvanna the Band the Show the Movie,\u201d has a quite different tone. This silly, lo-fi indie about two slacker buddies (Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol) who concoct crackpot schemes to land a gig at the Toronto music venue, the Rivoli, is a gem that begins streaming Friday on Hulu.
