His 11th album, \u201cMidnight Groove,\u201d was released in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Simpson\u2019s long career includes touring for a decade with jazz fusion great George Duke, starting in 1990. He would go on to work with other artists, including James Ingram, Anita Baker, Dave Koz and Wayman Tisdale.<\/p>\n<p>Opening the show will be the <strong>Michael Austin<\/strong> <strong>Project<\/strong>, led by the Warren-based saxophonist with his own smooth jazz style.<\/p>\n<p>The gates to The Amp will open at 6 p.m., with music starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the seated area and $10 for the lawn.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-other-events\">Other Events<\/h3>\n<p>The Mahoning Valley is in the thick of festival season \u2013 also known as \u201csummer\u201d \u2013 and there are two going on today through Sunday:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival,<\/strong> 343 Via Mount Carmel (near Choffin Career &amp; Technical Center), Youngstown, opens at 5:30 p.m. today. It will be open from 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 (free for children age 12 and under). Learn more <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/olmcsta.com\/our-parish\/parish-festival\/\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Warren Greek Festival<\/strong> at St. Demetrios church, 3223 Atlantic St. NE, will be open from 4-10 p.m. today, 4-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>Mahoning Valley Scrappers<\/strong> are in action today through Saturday at 7 17 Credit Union Field at Eastwood, Niles. It will be their busiest home stretch of the season. Tonight\u2019s game is a Buck Night, which means $1 general admission tickets, $1 hot dogs, $1 soft drinks and $1 for a 12-ounce glass of draft beer. Financial Wellness Night, presented by 7 17 Credit Union, will be Friday \u2013 and all seats are sold out. On Saturday, Scrappy Elf bobbleheads will be given away to the first 1,000 fans.
