Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro is not with the team<\/a> ahead of their 10-game road trip beginning Thursday against the Detroit Tigers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Quatraro is dealing with a personal matter, the Royals said. He is expected to return soon and continue his managerial duties.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Paul Hoover will serve as acting manager. Additionally, Vance Wilson will be elevated to bench coach and Jose Alguacil will become the third base coach.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Royals begin a four-game series against the Tigers at Comerica Park. The team is coming off a 5-1 homestand with series victories over the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Royals defeated the Giants<\/a> 5-4 at Kauffman Stadium. It was a historic afternoon as KC star Salvador Perez tied Hall of Famer George Brett atop the franchise\u2019s all-time home run list.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Perez belted his 317th homer to spark the Royals\u2019 late comeback. He now takes aim at setting the club record against the Tigers.<\/p>\n

Quatraro has missed time before with the Royals. In 2023, he tested positive for COVID-19<\/a> and was sidelined for five games. And two seasons ago, Quatraro wasn\u2019t present as he attended his late mother\u2019s memorial services<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Royals and Tigers are set for Thursday\u2019s action at 5:40 p.m. Central.<\/p>\n
