Craig Melvin<\/a>\u2018s vacation update gave some Today<\/a><\/em> fans the ick.<\/p>\n The NBC<\/a> morning show co-anchor has been absent since Monday, July 20, to enjoy a summer break with his family. Melvin took to Instagram<\/a> to share an update on his vacation on Tuesday, July 21. \u201cOut of office\u2026 Nothing like hanging with the family,\u201d he captioned the upload. \u201cHope you\u2019re enjoying this summer too.\u201d<\/p>\n The post featured a pic Melvin snapped of his feet while relaxing on the beach. Carson Daly<\/a>, who has also been absent from Today<\/em> this week to filmThe Voice<\/a><\/em>, praised Melvin\u2019s beach show of choice in the post\u2019s comments, writing, \u201cAt least you got the flip flop right! @olukai is the greatest ever. (Not paid to say that!) enjoy your break my man.\u201d<\/p>\n Others sent Melvin their well-wishes as he continues his Today<\/em> break. \u201cEnjoy Melvin\u2019s! Weekend Today<\/em><\/a>\u2018s Laura Jarrett<\/a> and NBC\u2019s Savannah Sellers<\/a> helped fill in for Melvin and an absent Al Roker<\/a> on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 22.<\/p>\n Melvin\u2019s current Today<\/em> break comes shortly after an intruder was arrested<\/a> after breaking into Today<\/em>\u2018s Studio 1A. The suspect<\/a>, identified as 41-year-old Andrew Truelove, was reportedly looking for Roker backstage, but instead lunged at and used a racial slur toward Melvin after being unable to find the weatherman, per TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n Today<\/em> released a statement shortly after, which read in part, \u201cThe person approached anchor Craig Melvin, who alerted security. The individual was detained and taken into custody by law enforcement without further incident. There was no altercation, and no one was injured. Today<\/em> is cooperating fully with law enforcement as they investigate the matter. NBC and Today<\/em> take the safety and security of our employees, talent, staff and guests extremely seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n According to NBC News<\/a>, Truelove faces a count of burglary in the third degree as a hate crime and a count of menacing in the third degree as a hate crime.
