Ten new songs have joined \u201cHymns for Home and Church\u201d in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, according to a Church Newsroom<\/a> release. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will make the latest selections available in the Gospel Library later today.<\/p>\n

The additions bring the collection to 82 songs in each of the four languages. The Church of Jesus Christ will continue its phased release of new hymns through next year.<\/p>\n

The Newly Released Hymns<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Church Newsroom also reported new hymn releases in several other languages. Armenian and Malagasy each have 22 selections, while German, Korean and Tagalog each have 12.<\/p>\n

Cebuano, Indonesian, Italian, Samoan and Tongan each have nine new hymns. These releases extend the growing collection to Church members who worship in languages beyond the four included in the latest 10-song group.<\/p>\n

Preparing a Congregation to Sing<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Church Newsroom highlighted Mateus Rangel, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, who serves as the music coordinator for a Portuguese-speaking congregation in Provo, Utah. Rangel helps Church members prepare for Sunday worship by sending them the selected hymns before each meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is power in music,\u201d Rangel told Church Newsroom. \u201cSo, I started texting and sharing with them the hymns that I [had] selected for the meeting in advance, and I shared the link to the [recording] so they could listen to it before the meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recordings accompany each hymn, giving individuals and families a way to learn the melody and practice before singing with a congregation. Some recordings feature children\u2019s voices, which Rangel has found especially helpful in his home.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy kids just got familiarized with the new hymns because they have something to connect with, more than the lyrics and the melodies,\u201d he said. \u201cThey also have the kids\u2019 voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rangel said the hymns\u2019 straightforward teachings have helped him discuss the gospel with his children. One conversation began after his family sang \u201cWhen the Savior Comes Again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love singing \u2018When the Savior Comes Again,\u2019 and it\u2019s powerful to have my kids singing the lyrics with us,\u201d Rangel said. \u201cThe other day, my second child asked me if I knew the day when the Savior would come again. I [used] this hymn to explain that we have no idea, but we will be happy when He does come again.\u201d<\/p>\n

That experience showed Rangel how sacred music provides families with language for gospel conversations. \u201cI love the way simple truths are spoken through the lyrics of the new hymns,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Keeping Christ at the Center<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The collection\u2019s emphasis on Jesus Christ also guides Rangel as he chooses music for worship services. Priesthood leaders and music coordinators work together to connect the hymns with the subjects addressed by speakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the hymns are connected to Christ, and this is our main message,\u201d Rangel said. \u201cThis is the purpose we meet every Sunday \u2013\u2013 to increase our faith in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rangel appreciates that the songs consistently \u201ctalk about Christ,\u201d and he has noticed greater engagement as his congregation learns them. He has also seen their influence reach beyond Sunday meetings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can see the impact on my family, my kids, and my congregation,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople are more inspired to follow Jesus Christ as they learn [by] singing the new hymns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seminary Students Embrace Familiar Favorites<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Church Newsroom also shared the experiences of students learning the new collection in Japan. Seminary teacher Tak Mochizuki has incorporated the hymns into his classes.<\/p>\n

Student Yue Tanaka has found the music approachable as she has become more familiar with it. \u201cThe new music feels very modern, and it has become more familiar to me,\u201d she told Church Newsroom.<\/p>\n

Another student, Mitsuki Mimaki, recognized songs she had previously heard during general conference. Several of those favorites now appear in the new collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love singing the new hymns,\u201d Mimaki said. \u201cI used to hear many hymns during general conference, and then I realized that some of my favorites, such as \u2018I will Walk with Jesus\u2019 and \u2018Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing\u2019 are now in the new [hymnbook].\u201d<\/p>\n

Mimaki described the selections as motivating and expressed enthusiasm about singing them. \u201cThey are so motivating, and I am so happy that I get to sing these new ones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Church will continue adding music to \u201cHymns for Home and Church\u201d through next year. Recordings and regular use in homes, Sunday meetings and seminary classes are helping Church members become familiar with the growing collection.<\/p>\n

Church Newsroom reported that Church members around the world are finding that the simple, Christ-centered hymns strengthen faith and bring the message of Jesus Christ more deeply into their homes and worship. For Rangel, their value rests in the direct truths they teach about the Savior.<\/p>\n
