Dax Shepard<\/strong><\/a> has waited for 35 years to apologize to Tommy Lee<\/strong><\/a> for an \u201cobnoxious\u201d comment he made to the singer when he was 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I\u2019m with my uncle, he\u2019s like 10 years older than me,\u201d Shepard, 51, said during the Wednesday, July 22, episode of his \u201cArmchair Expert<\/a>\u201d podcast, recalling the first time he met Lee, 63, at the Denver Grand Prix in 1991.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWe\u2019re kind of milling about in this little tent where you guys are \u2026 and I start chatting to you and this is what I said. I go, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m not really into M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce, but I\u2019m so in love with your wife, Heather Locklear<\/strong>.\u2019\u201d (Lee was married to Locklear<\/a>, 64, from 1986 to 1993.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so bad, and my uncle loved it, right?\u201d Shepard added. \u201cAnd I was a legend for f***ing two days cause I said this thing to Tommy Lee at 16.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDax Shepard is always one to speak his mind \u2014 which has occasionally landed him in hot water. The \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast host made headlines in September 2023 when he got into a heated discussion with Jonathan Van Ness about gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Van Ness, who is nonbinary and uses all pronouns, broke [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though his uncle was impressed with his remark, Shepard ended up getting flak from his friends for many years afterward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think every time a dude comes up to me, he\u2019s like, \u2018I don\u2019t really know you, but my wife thinks you\u2019re whatever.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, I deserve that,\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201cOr someone comes up and is like, \u2018I don\u2019t care for your s***, but I love your wife.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, I deserve that.\u2019\u201d (Shepard has been married to Kristen Bell<\/strong> since October 2013.)<\/p>\n

Shepard also noted that Lee was \u201ctotally cool\u201d about the remark.<\/p>\n

The Zathura<\/em> actor concluded by telling Lee, \u201cSo, I want to apologize for such an obnoxious way to say hi to you 34, 35 years ago. I didn\u2019t think I would ever get a chance to say that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lee rose to fame in the \u201880s as the cofounder and drummer of heavy metal band M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce alongside bassist Nikki Sixx<\/strong>, guitarist Mick Mars<\/strong> and lead vocalist Vince Neil<\/strong><\/a>. During his podcast appearance on Wednesday, Lee looked back on the rise of his career, the height of his time with the legendary band, his sobriety journey and more.<\/p>\n

At one point during the episode, Lee recalled a night when he and Sixx, 67, injected Jack Daniels whiskey into their veins.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDax Shepard is ready to open up about his childhood sexual abuse in a new memoir. Shepard, 51, revealed that he\u2019s writing a memoir during the Monday, March 2, episode of his \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast. While he plans to discuss being molested as a child in the book, the Parenthood actor admitted that he struggled [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[We] filled up the cap with Jack and then pulled a couple syringes, and were shooting Jack Daniel\u2019s,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was at that moment where I went, \u2018OK, what is happening? We could just drink this, but we\u2019re shooting it. This is f***ing wrong. And somebody\u2019s going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lee and his bandmates ultimately decided that they needed to seek treatment for addiction. The group attended rehab together in 1989 and went on to record their album Dr. Feelgood.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019We can\u2019t do this alone, guys. We got to do this together, or it ain\u2019t gonna happen,\u2019\u201d Lee recalled telling his bandmates when they decided to go to rehab.<\/p>\n

Lee and Neil later broke their sobriety at the end of M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce\u2019s Dr. Feelgood World Tour<\/em>. The drummer confessed his actions to the band the following day.<\/p>\n
