After winning five of six at home to begin the second half of the season, the Royals<\/a> hit the road for a ten-game road trip with the first four taking place against the Detroit Tigers.<\/p>\n

Checking out the Tigers\u2019 X page, it looks like they\u2019re celebrating 125 years of baseball. This old-timey scorecard looks kind of cool<\/a>. I had first wondered if this was an all-season type of celebration, but this souvenir item, at least, is specifically for the Royals-Tigers series.<\/p>\n

Jac Caglianone<\/a> out of the lineup, but acting manager Paul Hoover said he could be available off the bench<\/a>. Salvador Perez<\/a> batting fourth as he looks to break the Royals\u2019 all-time home run record, which he currently shares with George Brett. The funny thing about Salvy is that, sure, he could break it tonight, but I could also seem him go into a power drought that lasts the entire road trip so that he doesn\u2019t break the record until the Royals return to Kansas City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Royals will face right-handed pitcher Troy Melton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Randy Dobnak<\/a> faces a Detroit lineup with some intriguing hitters. Both Kevin McGonigle and Dillon Dingler<\/a> are having excellent seasons at the plate to the point where the former could very well win the Rookie of the Year award while the latter could get some MVP votes. Riley Greene<\/a> continues his solid career with another above-average year. Former first-overall pick Spencer Torkelson<\/a>, though, is struggling, and James Outman<\/a> has a horrible name for a batter.<\/p>\n
