Tommy the Animal released their debut album \u201cPeach Blow\u201d in 2018. Since then, the band has released \u201cSpeed-O-Meter\u201d (2019), \u201cMule\u201d (2022) and \u201cTurbo Poetry\u201d (2024) and completed three national tours while becoming a fixture on the western Colorado music scene. <\/span><\/p>\n Tommy the Animal\u2019s sound is distinguished by tight melodic and lyrical hooks, rich vocal harmonies and the slick guitar interplay between Cofsky and Douglas. <\/span><\/p>\n One band whose influence can be heard in the band\u2019s sound is Wilco. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWilco is one of my favorite bands,\u201d Cofsky said. \u201cI always try to channel a little bit of Jeff Tweedy somewhere in what I\u2019m doing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The two pointed to Twin Peaks out of Chicago and Geese as other contemporary bands who they admired. <\/span><\/p>\n Douglas spoke of a camaraderie between the bands in Carbondale.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s about five bands who are gigging a lot in town,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve played with Sweet Jessup (and the Dirty Buckets) a bunch. They\u2019re such a great unique band. We talk with all the other bands in town about what venues are good to play. We don\u2019t necessarily collaborate musically, but there\u2019s definitely a community support system. Everybody kind of helps everybody else find opportunities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Tommy the Animal isn\u2019t interested in recreating classic rock.
