They\u2019re not to be sniffed at\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The song marks the second preview of the singer-songwriter\u2019s fifth solo album, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/johnny-marr-announces-new-album-the-age-of-everything-with-urgent-single-spin-3951162\">\u2018The Age Of Everything\u2019<\/a>, which is out on October 2.<\/p>\n<p>Following on from lead single <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/johnny-marr-announces-new-album-the-age-of-everything-with-urgent-single-spin-3951162\">\u2018Spin\u2019<\/a>, Marr\u2019s majestic latest track was inspired by the nobility and strength of William Shakespeare\u2019s infamous character from <em>Hamlet<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Who will come to play?\/ Who will come your way?\/ When the day is done\/ And you get home\/ You can stop the rain<\/em>,\u201d Marr sings in the widescreen chorus, following bounces of shimmering guitars in the verse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ophelia\/ You got to find out\/ Who will come your way<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Johnny Marr - Ophelia (Visualiser)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KwRzYzN37Kw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Marr explained: \u201cThe character of Ophelia is confounding but there\u2019s a real nobility and strength which reminds me of someone in my life. So the name just stuck and sounded like a song.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought about the character, and I saw quite a few similarities with Ophelia. As a songwriter, sometimes these things happen where it just sings really well over the track and you go with it. It turned out right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new single comes on the heels of the artist <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/johnny-marr-announces-biggest-ever-solo-show-at-manchesters-castlefield-bowl-buy-tickets-3898940\">playing a big homecoming gig at Manchester\u2019s Castlefield Bowl<\/a> this month, ahead of a stop at Dublin\u2019s Iveagh Gardens. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/johnny-marr-announces-biggest-ever-solo-show-at-manchesters-castlefield-bowl-buy-tickets-3898940\">Marr\u2019s scheduled concert at London\u2019s OVO Arena Wembley this October was postponed<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Age Of Everything\u2019 will follow on from the musician\u2019s 2022 album <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/johnny-marr-fever-dreams-pts-1-4-review-3166480\">\u2018Fever Dreams Pts 1\u20134\u2019<\/a>.
