Wolfgang Van Halen is already looking ahead to\u00a0new music, even while spending months on the road with his band Mammoth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a recent\u00a0interview<\/a>, the musician\u00a0opened up\u00a0about what motivates him to continue writing and creating despite the demands of touring.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When asked how he stays motivated to work on new material while constantly performing live, Van Halen explained that he views touring and recording as two separate creative cycles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI have two different batteries,\u201d he said. \u201cI have a recording battery and a touring battery. And when\u00a0I’m\u00a0touring, the recording battery charges, and when\u00a0I’m\u00a0recording, the touring battery charges.\u00a0So\u00a0I’m\u00a0never feeling empty on either side.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although Mammoth still has more touring ahead in support of its latest\u00a0album\u00a0The End, Van Halen revealed that he has already started thinking about future music.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe’re\u00a0definitely past\u00a0the halfway mark of the touring cycle for\u00a0‘The End’, so\u00a0I’m\u00a0definitely starting\u00a0to just ruminate and think on ideas and stuff I have and some new stuff\u00a0I’ve\u00a0written,\u201d the singer and multi-instrumentalist said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A Creative Process That Feels Like Fun, Not Work\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Van Halen also credited his longtime collaborators for making the recording process enjoyable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He explained that working with producer Michael \u201cElvis\u201d Baskette and engineer Jef Moll feels like\u00a0spending time with friends. \u201cIt just\u00a0feels like getting\u00a0together with friends and just having\u00a0a good time\u00a0and writing music that sounds good to you.\u00a0So,\u00a0it’s always a pretty easy process.”\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fourth Studio Album?\u00a0<\/h2>\n

The Mammoth\u00a0frontman\u00a0revealed that he already has\u00a0numerous\u00a0ideas waiting to be developed. Still, there’s\u00a0no confirmed timeline yet for a new record.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt’s very much up in the air,\u201d Van Halen shared. \u201cMaybe next\u00a0year, but who knows? I know\u00a0we’ll\u00a0probably get\u00a0in\u00a0the studio next year at some point, but in terms of a release, I have no idea.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
