Ben really honed his debating skills there. He\u2019s not a guy you want to get in a debate with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fast-forward decades later, and both Ben and Casey each built their up their acting careers, respectively. In 2013, Ben received an honorary degree from Brown University, and used the opportunity to thank one of his greatest inspirations, his mom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means a lot to her,\u201d he said <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/celebrity\/ben-affleck-honorary-degree-ben-affleck-matt-damon-affleck-brown-university\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer\">during his speech<\/a>, while dedicating his degree to Chris. \u201cShe never got to see me graduate from any higher education at all. So, Mom, this is for you.
