The food hall element of the leisure destination in Manchester\u2019s NOMA district has not proven commercially viable, paving the way for it to be replaced by a second space for live music events.<\/p>\n
Branded Locker, the ground floor music hall would complement the larger New Century Hall space upstairs and act as a venue for \u201cnew and up and coming talent\u201d as well as providing space for college students at the DBS Institute \u2013 located within the building\u2019s basement \u2013 to perform, according to the asset\u2019s owner One Plus Four.<\/p>\n
The 16,000\u00a0sq\u00a0ft food hall would be subdivided into two distinct areas under the plans; the new live music venue with associated ancillary accommodation and a bar serving pizza. The plan is for the two spaces to\u00a0operate\u00a0separately or in tandem.<\/p>\n
The scheme brings an end to the operation of the open-plan food hall, which has \u201cstruggled due to the scale and character of the space and the building\u2019s location being slightly\u00a0removed from the primary retail and leisure core of the city centre\u201d,\u00a0according to a planning statement prepared by Euan Kellie Property Solutions.<\/p>\n
