The MLB trade deadline is coming up quickly on August 3. However, the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> pulled off a pre-deadline move with the Kansas City Royals<\/a> on Saturday, July 25, acquiring 28-year-old outfielder Kameron Misner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In exchange, the team gave up cash considerations.<\/p>\n

On X, the Phillies announced their trade with the Royals. Philadelphia optioned Misner to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. They also announced a corresponding roster move of outfielder Steward Berroa<\/a> being designated for assignment.<\/p>\n

“The Phillies have acquired Kameron Misner from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations and optioned him to Lehigh Valley (AAA),” the statement read<\/a>. “To make room on the 40-man roster, OF Steward Berroa has been designated for assignment.”<\/p>\n

Granted, this isn’t a move that will move the needle much for the Phillies. Misner is more of a depth addition who could help if the team needs him.<\/p>\n

So far this season with the Royals, Misner has played in 18 games. He drove in four RBI and produced a slash line of .220\/.256\/.244.<\/p>\n

Back in the 2025 season, the 28-year-old played in 71 games. He hit five home runs to go along with 22 RBI and eight stolen bases, batting .213\/.273\/.345.<\/p>\n

Kansas City<\/a> had designated Misner for assignment earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Berroa has played in six games this season for Philadelphia. At the end of the day, the Phillies are getting more experience in Misner, but both players are in their final minor league option year.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia will be an interesting team to watch<\/a> as the trade deadline continues to draw closer. Already, the Phillies have been talked about a lot in the rumor mill.<\/p>\n

Multiple connections have been made to Philadelphia having interest in trading for a big bat. The Phillies have been connected heavily to Minnesota Twins<\/a> star Byron Buxton<\/a>, although it is unknown if the Twins are going to move him. Mike Trout<\/a> has been another name thrown around as a potential interest for Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

At this point in the season, the Phillies hold a 56-48 record. They are currently second in the National League East division race, trailing the Atlanta Braves<\/a> by 5.5 games.<\/p>\n

If Philadelphia is serious about going all-in for a World Series run, the next week could get very hectic. Dave Dombrowski has always had an aggressive mindset during trade season and fans shouldn’t expect this year to be any different.<\/p>\n
