The PNW music scene has never belonged to one sound. Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and the surrounding regions remain deeply connected to hip-hop, but today\u2019s independent landscape stretches across underground rap, alternative R&B, electronic production, melodic music, and genre-bending releases that refuse to fit neatly inside one category.<\/p>\n
Respect My Region has documented Northwest music for more than a decade. That means supporting recognized artists with established catalogs while continuing to create space for emerging names, independent releases, and records that deserve more attention than an algorithm may provide.<\/p>\n
This latest regional roundup features new music from our Instagram post featuring Mafi D, Key Nyata, Karma Knows, Sango, AJ Suede, D Crews, HNY, and Perry Paints. We have also added Joey Kash\u2019s new visual for \u201cSleepless in Seattle\u201d and Set It Off<\/em>, the full-length collaborative album from Twisted Insane and Seattle rapper Swisher Sleep.<\/p>\n Mafi D opens this edition with an On The Radar performance of \u201cSki Way of Life,\u201d another independent release adding to the current movement around Northwest rap.<\/p>\n Mafi D has remained active within Seattle\u2019s music community through solo records, collaborations, live appearances, and connections with artists throughout the region. He also appears twice on Joey Kash\u2019s 2025 album Rich People Are Crazy: The Sequel<\/em>, contributing to \u201cIn a Row\u201d and joining Ralphy Davis on \u201cUnderrated.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSki Way of Life\u201d gives listeners another look at Mafi D\u2019s individual work outside those collaborations.
