Bay Area thrash metal<\/strong> veterans Forbidden<\/strong> have announced their first new studio album in 15 years. The band\u2019s self-titled sixth full-length effort, \u2018Forbidden,\u2019<\/strong> is scheduled for release on October 23<\/strong> through BLKIIBLK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The album marks Forbidden\u2019s<\/strong> first studio outing since 2010 and arrives alongside the premiere of its lead single, \u201cPsyclops.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Discussing the track, guitarist Craig Locicero<\/strong> explained:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Psyclops\u2019 was the final song completed for our newest self-titled offering. It was part of the last batch of music completed with Jeremy Von Epp & myself on the home stretch of our writing sessions & it came together quickly. The song itself is a hypnotizing stomper. Heavy footed like millions of people marching against how things stand in the status quo.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cNorman\u2019s lyrics for \u2018Psyclops\u2019 should be left to the interpretation of the listeners. The chorus paints a vivid picture\u2026 \u2018Forsaken, fast asleep and trapped inside a maze, Complacent eyes securely locked in an obscure gaze.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Production on \u2018Forbidden\u2019<\/strong> was handled by Craig Locicero<\/strong>, drummer Chris Kontos<\/strong>, and producer Zack Ohren<\/strong> (Machine Head<\/strong>, All Shall Perish<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Speaking about the album as a whole, Locicero<\/strong> stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cMaking \u2018Forbidden\u2019 felt more like an odyssey than a typical recording process. We set out to create a record that reminds people why they fell in love with thrash and heavy metal in the first place, embracing raw energy, melody, and the imperfections that give heavy music its character.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He added:<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery member brought their best, and having Brann Dailor (Mastodon) join us on \u2018Sycophantasy\u2019 was an incredible addition. \u2018Forbidden\u2019 is five lifetimes of experience forged into one piece of metallic art.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Notably, Mastodon<\/strong> drummer Brann Dailor<\/strong> makes a guest appearance on the album track \u201cSycophantasy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
