The Pirates had their four-game winning streak come to an end when they were shut out by the Minnesota Lake Royals 5-0 last Wednesday, July 22.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<!-- <input type=radio id=\"show\" name=\"group\"><label for=\"show\">SHOW ARTICLE<\/label>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\n<div class=\"hide_article\"> -->&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The first-place Minnesota Lake Royals defeated the third-place Blue Earth Pirates 5-0 in a 13\/60 League game held Wednesday evening, July 22, at Bud Kroenke Field in Minnesota Lake.<\/p>\n<p>The Royals came into the game with a 9-2 league record while the Pirates brought a 6-5 league record into the contest.<\/p>\n<p>Pitchers Cody Sukalski of Blue Earth and Gavin Halvorson of the Royals cruised through the first five innings of the game with neither pitcher allowing a run.<\/p>\n<p>Halvorson broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning when he hit a home run over the center field fence to give Minnesota Lake a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Royals other runs were scored in the bottom of the seventh inning when four Minnesota Lake runners crossed home plate.<\/p>\n<p>Halvorson picked up the win for the Royals after pitching eight innings and only allowing three hits. He struck out 17 Pirate batters and walked one. Nathan Moore relieved Halvorson to begin the ninth inning and recorded the final three outs.<\/p>\n<p>Sukalski took the loss for Blue Earth after pitching five and one third innings. He gave up one earned run on four hits while striking out two batters and walking one. <\/p>\n<p>Kade Hobbs relieved Sukalski in the sixth inning and pitched one and two thirds innings. Hobbs allowed four runs (none earned) on three hits. He walked three batters and struck out one.<\/p>\n<p>Noah Morphew pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning for Blue Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota Lake had seven hits to three for Blue Earth. The Pirates committed three errors while the Royals were charged with one.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams were back in action on Saturday, July 25. The Pirates traveled to Waseca to take on the Braves in a 2 p.m. game while Minnesota Lake went on the road to face Albert Lea in a 2 p.m. game.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Earth 13, Albert Lea 1<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Earth Pirates won their fourth game in a row when they defeated the Albert Lea Express 13-1 in six and a half innings on Sunday, July 19, at Veterans Field in Blue Earth.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates pounded out 14 hits during the game. They scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, five in the bottom of the second and six more in the bottom of the fifth inning to account for their 13 runs.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Brandyn Olsen limited the Express to one run on three hits in six innings of work. Olsen walked two batters and struck out 10. <\/p>\n<p>Kade Hobbs pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning for Blue Earth to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates two second inning runs came when Kaylan Legred hit a one-out single to center field and scored on a line-drive double by Olsen for the first run of the game. Olsen moved to third base on a passed ball and scored on a ground out by Talan Priester.<\/p>\n<p>In the bottom of the second inning, singles by Zac Schonrock and Tanner Nawrocki and a walk to Noah Barnett loaded the bases with zero outs.<\/p>\n<p>A double to left field by Hunter Bleess drove in Schonrock and Nawrocki with Barnett holding up at third base.<\/p>\n<p>An infield ground out and a pop out to the second baseman gave the Express two outs with Barnett and Bleess still on base.<\/p>\n<p>A single by Parker Meyers scored Barnett and allowed Bleess to advance 90 feet to third base. A single by Priester scored both Bleess and Meyers to give the Pirates a 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Earth\u2019s six-run fifth inning began with Priester getting hit by a pitch and then scoring on a hit by Logan O\u2019Hara. A single by Schonrock  put runners on first and second base.<\/p>\n<p>Nawrocki hit into a fielder\u2019s choice with O\u2019Hara forced out at third base, Schonrock advancing to second and Nawrocki safe at first.<\/p>\n<p>Barnett\u2019s line-drive single to left field plated Schonrock with Blue Earth\u2019s ninth run of the game while allowing Nawrocki to advance to second base.<\/p>\n<p>Albert Lea recorded a fly out for the second out of the inning before Legred  singled to score Nawrocki with Barnett moving to second base <\/p>\n<p>A double by Olsen scored both Barnett and Legred and gave the Pirates a 12-1 lead. Olsen came around to score Blue Earth\u2019s final run of the game on a single to right field by Parker Meyers.<\/p>\n<p>Legred, Olsen, Meyers, Schonrock and Nawrocki each had two hits in the game. Priester and Olsen both recorded three runs batted in while Bleess and Meyers had two each.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates had three extra-base hits \u2013 two doubles by Olsen and one double by Bleess.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Earth 19, Cleveland 9<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Earth Pirates went on the road to Cleveland on Wednesday, July 15, and defeated the Spiders 19-9 in eight innings.<\/p>\n<p>Logan Jahnke started on the mound for Blue Earth and pitched three and a third innings. He allowed five earned runs on four hits while walking eight batters and striking out four.<\/p>\n<p>Zac Schonrock came on in relief with one out in the fourth inning. He picked up the win after yielding four earned runs on 10 hits in three and two thirds innings of work. Schonrock walked one batter and had five strikeouts.<\/p>\n<p>Noah Morphew threw the final inning and held the Spiders scoreless. He gave up two hits, walked one batter and struck out two.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Earth scored three runs in the top of the first inning while the Spiders tallied two runs in their half of the first. The Pirates added another run in the top of the second inning to take a 4-2 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland put five runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning and one run in their half of the fifth inning to take an 8-4 lead heading into the top of the sixth inning.<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates closed out the game strong by scoring five runs in the top of the fifth inning, adding six more in the top of the seventh and four more in the top of the eighth to account for their 19 runs. The Spiders scored their final run in the bottom of the seventh inning.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Earth had three extra-base hits in the contest including Brandyn Olsen\u2019s two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and two triples by Kaylan Legred, including one in the sixth inning that drove in three runs.<\/p>\n<p>The Spiders outhit the Pirates by a 16-11 margin. However, Cleveland also committed six errors to Blue Earth\u2019s three.<\/p>\n<p>Legred went 3-for-5 at the plate with four runs batted in. Olsen had three hits in five plate appearances and drove in five runs.
