Daniel Lawrence Whitney, better known as Larry the Cable Guy<\/a>, had to pause production of his upcoming TV show American Mayhem<\/em> to deal with some medical mayhem. A case of appendicitis landed Whitney in the hospital on July 23.<\/p>\n A rep for Whitney told TMZ<\/a> the comedian was hospitalized in Lincoln, Nebraska, late on Thursday night, and doctors diagnosed him with appendicitis. TMZ also reported that Whitney’s medical scare meant tapings of American Mayhem<\/em> had to be postponed.<\/p>\n As the Mayo Clinic<\/a> explains, appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a pouch that extends from the colon. Appendicitis causes sudden pain that starts either on the right side of the lower belly or around the belly button and can worsen with coughing, walking, or making sudden movements. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and gas. He’s in good spirits and feeling much better.”<\/p>\n In an X update<\/a>, Whitney told fans his appendix was removed during his two days in the hospital. “Pretty sore but vitals good,” he wrote. “My butt looks fantastic, and now [I’m] just taking stool softeners, which is giving me an urge to go to my mom’s assisted living facility and play bingo with the gals.”<\/p>\n With Whitney on the mend, he’ll soon be able to return to his duties hosting American Mayhem<\/em>. The syndicated series is a “high-energy clip show” that “celebrates the wildest, funniest, and most outrageous moments caught on camera across the U.S., all brought to life by the beloved funnyman whose unmistakable voice and humor have made him a household name,” according to a press release.
